The Patna Pirates created history on Saturday evening as they completed a hat-trick of titles in Pro Kabaddi by capturing the Season 5 trophy. They defeated the Gujarat Fortunegiants in resounding fashion to take home the title, winning 55-38.

Coach Ram Mehar Singh of the Pirates said that whatever answers he had to give he would give after the final and he did not hold back, letting rip on his opposite number Manpreet Singh.

The Patna coach spoke about how Manpreet had become overconfident and too proud, something a coach shouldn't do. “After beating us both times in the league, Gujarat's coach became so arrogant. He kept saying that he wants to play Patna, he wants to play Patna”, Singh started.

“You can check history; anyone who has ever become so arrogant and overconfident has ever been successful”, Singh continued. “Even Ravan at one time was very powerful, but he became so arrogant and the power went to his head. When someone becomes so full of himself, his defeat is certain.”

Singh did not relent there. “I have never in the entire league ever said anything, be it wrong language or loose talk. But he kept saying something or the other throughout the season to hurt me and my team”, Singh added.

Monu Goyat and Pardeep Narwal were with him at the press conference, but Singh would not let up. He went on to say that a coach should not indulge in such behaviour and should stick to just motivating the players and making them better.

“Those words hurt me. But I think God ordained this. Those defeats earlier were actually my victory because in the end we won the game that matters,” he said.

He went on to discuss the match and other things as well, but his explosive tirade against Manpreet will surely dominate headlines after this memorable Pirates three-peat.
