Pro Kabaddi 2024 Auction: 3 players Bengal Warriorz should target ft. Maninder Singh
The Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) Season 11 is approaching and Bengal Warriorz, along with all the other franchises in the league, will target the best kabaddi players from India and other countries as the auctions are scheduled on August 15 and 16.
Bengal Warriorz have been one of the most established franchises in the PKL, with the Kolkata-based team winning the league in 2019. However, the past few seasons have been tough for the Warriorz, who finished seventh in the last edition of the PKL.
Bengal Warriors will look to strengthen their squad in the auction so that they may challenge for the top spot yet again. These are the three players that they may target on the auction day.
#1 Maninder Singh
Ever since rejoining the PKL in 2017, lead raider Maninder Singh has represented Bengal Warriorz in every season of the tournament. However, the 34-year-old national team player was surprisingly released ahead of PKL 11.
It is expected that the Bengal Warriorz will choose to re-sign Maninder Singh using their Final Bid Match (FBM) option. Maninder has been a consistent performer for the team even through their disappointing finishes in the last few seasons. It will be a shock if the Warriorz do not repeat what they did last season and re-sign their talismanic raider using the FBM option.
#2 Krishan Dhull
Krishan Dhull, who played in the right corner for the Patna Pirates, has been a major breakthrough star in the PKL 10 season. He emerged as the second-best defender in the entire league, winning 78 tackle points throughout the season.
However, Dhull was released by the Pirates after just a season, and the 21-year-old will be looking for a new club in PKL 11. He is a perfect option for the Bengal Warriorz, who had an abysmal defensive record last year, only completing 36% of their tackles successfully. If the Warriorz want to challenge the very best this season, they will need to improve their defensive record, and Krishan Dhull will be the perfect candidate to do so for the long term.
#3 Sunil Kumar
Sunil Kumar, who last played for the Jaipur Pink Panthers in PKL 10, is one of the biggest names in the released pool who will go under the hammer in this year’s auctions. The defender, who has amassed an impressive 309 tackle points in 137 matches in the PKL, has been one of the best Indian defenders in the league.
The right-sided defender offers a perfect combination of strength and speed and has a penchant to rely on both while making grabs and tackles during matches. The former Jaipur captain will be the perfect signing for the Bengal Warriorz as they look to rebuild their defensive line for PKL 11 in the upcoming auctions. With their defensive woes well known to all, Sunil Kumar will be one of the marquee players in their backline if they manage to secure his signature in the auctions.
