Pro Kabaddi 2024 Auction: 3 released players who might be bought back
The Pro Kabaddi 2024 Auction will take place this week in Mumbai. The 12 franchises have announced their lists of retained and released players before the mega event, scheduled to happen on August 15 and 16.
Like the last few editions, Pro Kabaddi League teams will have an option of using the Final Bid Match card to sign a player, released by them before the auction, at his final price. Several teams have used the FBM card intelligently in the past auctions, and the same should continue this season as well.
Each team will have three FBM cards at the Pro Kabaddi 2024 auction. Here are our predictions for three players who might return to their PKL 10 franchise at the auction.
#1 Bengal Warriors may buy Maninder Singh back at the Pro Kabaddi 2024 auction
Maninder Singh is one of the most consistent performers in Pro Kabaddi League. The mighty raider has been phenomenal for the Bengal Warriors since arriving in season five.
Shedding some light on his extraordinary numbers for the Warriors, Maninder Singh has earned 1,305 points in 127 matches. He has crossed the 200 points mark in most of the seasons for Bengal. Moreover, he also helped them win their only championship in 2019.
It was surprising to see Maninder on the list of players released by Bengal Warriors ahead of the auction. However, Bengal might have planned to buy him back using the FBM card.
#2 Jaipur Pink Panthers will likely re-sign Sunil Kumar at the Pro Kabaddi 2024 auction
Sunil Kumar led the Jaipur Pink Panthers to the Pro Kabaddi League trophy in season nine.
The Pink Panthers couldn't defend their title in season 10, but under Sunil's captaincy, they qualified for the semifinals, where they lost to the Haryana Steelers.
Although the Pink Panthers didn't win the title, fans were delighted with the way Sunil marshaled his troops.
He not only used the available resources to perfection but led from the front in defence as well. The right cover defender should be back in the Jaipur squad at Pro Kabaddi 2024 auction. It should not be a surprise if they appoint him as their captain as well.
#3 Manjeet Sharma may return to Dabang Delhi KC
Former champions Dabang Delhi KC have retained star raiders Ashu Malik and Naveen Kumar ahead of the Pro Kabaddi 2024 auction. They have released Meetu and Manjeet Sharma from the squad.
While Meetu may go for an expensive price, Delhi could try to re-sign Manjeet at a bargain amount. Manjeet could play the support raider's role to perfection for Delhi. In the last two seasons, he scored more than 100 points for the Dabangs.
Apart from his raiding, Manjeet can also contribute in defence. Last season, he earned eight tackle points, including two super tackles. The trio of Manjeet, Ashu and Naveen could wreak havoc in PKL 11.
