Pro Kabaddi 2024, Haryana Steelers vs Tamil Thalaivas: 3 Player battles to watch out for
Sunday night's (November 17) Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) lineup will see the Haryana Steelers lock horns with the Tamil Thalaivas. The two teams will be in action at 8 pm at the Noida Indoor Stadium.
After a runner-up finish last year, the Steelers had a promising start to Season 11. The team started their campaign with a loss to the defending champions, Puneri Paltan, but have quickly found their groove. As of now, they've won seven of their nine matches and are sitting atop the standings with 36 points.
Meanwhile, the Tamil Thalaivas had a great start to their campaign. However, they weren't able to hold on to that momentum and went on a four-match-long losing streak before claiming a victory against the Bengal Warriorz on Thursday (November 14). As of now, the team is seventh in the standings, having won only four of their 10 matches.
As the Steelers and the Thaialvas prepare for their clash tonight, here are three-player battles you need to keep your eye on.
Pro Kabaddi 2024, Haryana Steelers vs Tamil Thalaivas: 3 Player battles to watch out for
#1. Shivam Patare vs Amirhossien Bastami
Shivam Patare of the Haryana Steelers has been a strong performer for the team this season. He’s been in all of the side’s nine matches and has collected 48 points so far. He's averaged 5.11 points per match and has a 55% raid strike rate, making him one to watch out for whenever he's on the mat.
Giving Patare a run for his money tonight will be Amirhossien Bastami. The right-corner played for the Steelers in Season 9 but switched over to the Thaialvas last year. In Season 11, Bastami has been an impressive force in the defense, with 25 points in his 10 matches to give him a tackle strike rate of 52%.
#2. Vishal Chahal vs Mohammadreza Shadloui
Vishal Chahal has been a handy player for the Tamil Thalaivas on the attack. After a memorable debut with the team last year, the right-raider has built on that momentum this season, scoring 17 points in five matches. Chahal has delivered multiple promising performances and is someone to keep an eye on.
Meanwhile, keeping the Thaialvas’ raider in check tonight will be Haryana Steelers’ Mohammadreza Shadloui. After helping the Puneri Paltan lift the trophy last season, Shadloui has continued to display the same level of performance with the Haryana Steelers this year. He’s scored a total of 56 points so far, 31 of which are from the defensive end.
#3. Narender Kandola vs Jaideep Dahiya
Narender Kandola is having a phenomenal season with the Tamil Thalaivas. The raider is playing his third consecutive season for the team and has already scored 76 points in the 10 matches. Kandola has a raid strike rate of 46% and has put up multiple clinical displays this year.
On the other hand, Jaideep Dahiya has played seven matches for the Haryana Steelers and has 14 points to his name. The left-cover has scored one Super Tackle as well as one High 5 and currently holds a tackle success rate of 41%. Dahiya has seen a run of lukewarm performances as of late, and as he looks to get back into top form, his clash against Kandola tonight should give fans a treat.
