Pro Kabaddi 2024: Predicting the playing 7 for Haryana Steelers for PKL 11
The Haryana Steelers were one of the surprise packages of Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) 10, finishing as runner-up. Under the guidance of head coach Manpreet Singh, the Steelers, with their young squad, pulled off an incredible run.
They finished fifth in the points table and staged a memorable victory against the defending champions, Jaipur Pink Panthers, in the semifinals before falling to the Puneri Paltan in the final.
With a promising mix of youth and experience, the Steelers are gearing up to make another deep run in PKL 11.
The addition of Mohammadreza Shadlou Chiyaneh, the best defender of PKL 10 and a player who played a crucial role in defeating Haryana in the final, is a major boost to their defense. Shadlou’s presence, along with Jaideep Dahiya and Rahul Sethpal, form a strong defensive unit. While the raiding department lacks the same star power as the defense, the Steelers have the potential to surprise their opponents once again.
Here’s a look at the predicted playing 7 for the Haryana Steelers in PKL 11.
#1 Vinay (Raider)
Vinay has been an integral part of the Haryana Steelers’ raiding unit since he made his debut in Season 7. In 76 games, Vinay has accumulated 372 raid points, establishing himself as a consistent performer. His performance in PKL 10 was his best to date, scoring 163 raid points in 23 games.
Vinay’s strength lies in his ability to maintain composure in pressure situations. In PKL 11, he will continue to play a key role in the raiding department and is expected to lead from the front.
#2 Jaideep Dahiya (Captain, Left Cover)
Jaideep Dahiya proved to be an inspirational leader for the Steelers in PKL 10. As captain and left-cover defender, he played a crucial role in guiding the team to the finals. Jaideep managed 68 tackle points in 23 games, bringing his total to 188 tackle points in 66 games over his PKL career.
Dahiya’s leadership skills, combined with his defensive strength, make him a vital asset to the team.
#3 Sanjay (Right Cover)
Sanjay, a young and talented right cover defender, will be expected to take on a bigger role with the Steelers this season. Although he played just six games for the Patna Pirates last season, scoring six points, his potential is evident. Haryana will likely give Sanjay more responsibility in PKL 11.
In a defense that already boasts the likes of Jaideep Dahiya, Rahul Sethpal, and Shadlou, Sanjay will need to rise to the occasion and prove his worth as a dependable right cover.
#4 Shivam Patare (Raider)
Shivam Patare was a revelation for the Haryana Steelers last season, particularly in the latter stages of the tournament. Known for his quick running hand touch, Patare was a nightmare for defenders who struggled to catch up with his pace. In 23 games, he managed to accumulate 116 raid points.
Heading into PKL 11, Patare will be expected to solidify his place in the starting seven. His ability to perform under pressure makes him an exciting prospect for the Steelers, and he could play a pivotal role in supporting Vinay in the raiding department.
#5 Vishal Tate (Raider)
Vishal Tate made his debut for the Haryana Steelers last season, though he only featured in three games. Despite limited opportunities, he made a significant impact, collecting 24 raid points. Vishal has shown glimpses of his talent and is expected to have a bigger role in PKL 11.
If he is given more game time, Tate has the potential to emerge as a key contributor and complement the efforts of Vinay and Patare in raiding.
#6 Rahul Sethpal (Right Corner)
Rahul Sethpal was one of the standout defenders for the Haryana Steelers last season. He finished fourth on the list of most tackle points, registering 73 tackle points in 23 games.
With the addition of Shadlou on the left corner, Sethpal could have more freedom to express himself on the right side. The combination of these two defensive powerhouses will be key to Haryana’s success this season.
#7 Mohammadreza Shadlou Chiyaneh (Left Corner)
The signing of Mohammadreza Shadlou Chiyaneh is undoubtedly a game-changer for the Haryana Steelers. The Iranian defender was the best in PKL 10, amassing 99 tackle points in 24 matches and even contributing to the raid when needed.
Shadlou was a crucial part of Puneri Paltan’s championship-winning team last season, and now he finds himself on the other side, hoping to bring Haryana Steelers their maiden PKL title.
His presence is expected to ease the pressure on the rest of the defenders, allowing them to play with more confidence and aggression.
