After six consecutive losses, the Bengaluru Bulls finally managed to win a game as Sunday's Pro Kabaddi League encounter saw them take on a menacing Puneri Paltan outfit, who had won six out of their eight matches.

However, in what was a shocking result, Bengaluru beat a stellar Pune team 24-20 and left the entire stadium stunned with their professional performance. Prior to tonight, the Bulls had managed to win just a single game in as many as ten matches.

This win comes at a time when it was least expected, taking into account Puneri's supreme starting seven. Bengaluru captain, Rohit Kumar though played down the victory and suggested that there is nothing to celebrate about.

"We have won a game after one whole month, we are obviously happy but it's not as if we can now dance and sing."

"If we won two to three more matches, then we can start dreaming a bit. We will only celebrate on the final day if we reach the playoffs and I am sure we can make it," he stated.

The Akshay Kumar call that wasn't

Rohit Kumar's childhood hero and inspiration, Bollywood actor, Akshay Kumar, celebrated his 50th birthday on 9th September. It is no hidden fact that the Bulls captain is one of Akshay's biggest fans and even has 'Akki' printed on the back of his jersey, along with two tattoos dedicated to the superstar.

Bengaluru's captain though, could not wish his idol but revealed an interesting conversation he had with Akshay Kumar's bodyguard.

Rohit was keen to speak to Akshay and seemed extremely disappointed a phone call couldn't materialize. The actor was apparently in the midst of a hectic movie schedule.

"I didn't speak to Akshay Kumar but I did speak to his bodyguard, I had told him to try and facilitate a conversation with Akshay. The bodyguard said he is very busy shooting right now. Whenever he gets time, he will try and get Akshay Kumar on the phone," he revealed.

All-round effort

While no single player stood out for Bengaluru, it was an all-around effort. Each and every played chipped in with vital points, consistently.

Every single player who was part of the starting seven managed to get on the scoreboard. The captain revealed the tactics behind their surprise but much-needed win.

"The match is always decided in the final ten minutes. We usually take a five point lead but fail to protect it."

"The coach told us to only play on the third raid. Pune had only three, maximum four raids left in the final minutes. We were aiming to get just a single point in our three raids. The coach warned us to not make defensive mistakes and play safe," he signed off.
