Pro Kabaddi League 2017 Season 5: Patna Pirates' Pardeep Narwal smashes all-time PKL record

Pardeep Narwal (green) has been phenomenal this season

The Pro Kabaddi League is full of star players who wowed fans with their incredible displays. However, if there is one player who has stood out head and shoulders above the rest this season is Pardeep Narwal. The Patna Pirates skipper has been absolutely special, racking up points for fun and leaving commentators and audiences gasping for breath with his wide array of skills.

He averages a Super 10 a game and has made raiding look like a piece of cake this season. In almost every game so far, he has achieved one landmark or the other, and against the Telugu Titans on Friday, he created Pro Kabaddi history as he broke the record for the most points scored in a single season by crossing the 155-mark set by U Mumba's Anup Kumar with his seventh raid point of the match.

Remarkably, Anup Kumar had achieved the feat in 16 games, while Pardeep has done so in his 12th match of the campaign. He opened his account in the match with a trademark dubki and super raid, which turned out to be just a sighter for the storm that was about to come.

He ended the game with a total of 14 points, taking his tally to a whopping 163 in 12 matches, an average of over 12 raid points a match. In second place is his rival Rahul Chaudhari, at 113 total points and that too amassed by playing four matches extra.

Pardeep also has the records for the most successful raids this season (124), most Super 10s (9) as well as super raids (7). Against the Jaipur Pink Panthers earlier on September 5, he scored a scarcely believable 21 raid points in 22 raid attempts, which is the highest for a single player this season. He also became the first player to break the 100-point barrier in Season 5 against the Pink Panthers.

One can only expect Narwal's tally to go up and up as the season progress and fans will be treated to more 'dubkis' in the coming days as the Pirates contest their home leg in Ranchi.
