In a massive boost for last Pro Kabaddi League season's semi-finalists Bengal Warriors, head coach Jagdish Kumble is all set to continue in his role as the head coach for the upcoming season of the Pro Kabaddi League which is set to commence later this year in October as confirmed by Kumble to Sportskeeda.

Kumble, who has acres of experience having represented Services for almost two decades and was a part of the gold-medal winning Indian squad as part of the 2002 Asian Games was drafted into the Warriors setup ahead of the fifth season following a title drought from the first four editions of the competition.

What is interesting to note is that Kumble was also part of the Jaipur Pink Panthers as a player until the third season of the league, when he decided to hang his boots and walk into the role of training players after having accumulated a lot of experience over the years.

Impactful maiden season as coach

Kumble was a happy man after the auctions with a squad that boasted of some big names such as Jang Kun Lee, Maninder Singh, Surjeet Singh amongst others. The Warriors found themselves in Zone B and did extremely well to overcome some stiff challenges against the Patna Pirates, Bengaluru Bulls to finish on top of the Zone B standings with 11 wins from 22 matches apart from 5 losses and 6 tied encounters.

What can be expected in the upcoming season?

Ahead of the sixth season, the Warriors have opted to retain the tried and tested combination of skipper Surjeet Singh and one of last season's most prolific raiders, Maninder Singh.

With the mega auctions coming up in the last week of May, Kumble's experience and understanding of the game will come to the fore as the Warriors will look to form a formidable outfit and take the positives from last season to go all the way in the upcoming edition of the league.
