Pro Kabaddi: Surjeet Narwal to return for Dabang Delhi on home turf
As the Dabangs reached Delhi for the home leg of the carnival that Star Sports Pro Kabaddi is, sections of the media couldn’t help but mention their dismal run here last season. With 3 losses on the first 3 days of action at the Thyagaraj Indoor Stadium, their season spiraled down here and albeit the win over Bengal Warriors, they would have become the only team to list losses in each game at their fortress.
One man who ensured that the dubious distinction wasn’t achieved was Surjeet Narwal. Like on so many other occasions, he rose like a phoenix to lead the Dabangs to a morale lifting win that day.
Today too, he seemed to have the place buzzing as he emerged out of lobby. There have been stories going around about his return and head coach Honnappa C Gowda talked about the same, “He has been practicing with the team. From what I can see, he has recovered really well and in one of the matches here he should start for us.”
Echoing the gaffer’s sentiments, top raider Kashiling Adake too shared his optimism about Surjeet’s return, “We want him back as soon as possible. He is an absolute livewire and having him around will change the way we are playing completely. Rohit (Kumar Chaudhary) and I are already doing really well, if Surjeet comes in, there will be no stopping us.”
While the man himself remained unavailable for comment, it goes without saying that his return would boost Coach Honnappa and the rest of the team’s plans really well.
