Telugu Titans coach defends strategy of playing star Rahul Chaudhari out of position

Rahul Chaudhari celebrating his last raid against Bengal Warriors

Telugu Titans defeated the hosts, Bengal Warriors in their second home match of Star Sports Pro Kabaddi at Kolkata. This was the last-minute decider where both teams struggled to establish a convincing lead. Telugu Titans showed an awesome all-round performance at the last-minute in both raiding and defending and knicked the match.

Titans captain Rahul Chaudhari took the victory away from Bengal Warriors with a last-minute raid where he came back with 2 points and put his team on a 1-point lead with 15 seconds left on the clock. Team coach Srinivas Reddy spoke with us just after their breathtaking 3rd consecutive victory of Star Sports Pro Kabaddi 2015 saying that they were confident that the team will get the win.

“We were 100 percent confident about our victory at the last movement, we have wonderful raiders in our team and this is the biggest advantage of our team,” Srinivas said.

He also defended the decision of Rahul Chaudhari playing at right corner in this match. He described this as a part of their strategy.

“Playing with Rahul Chaudhari at right corner was part of our strategy because Meraj Sheykh was playing second man for Rahul Chaudhari. This was our one strategy in today’s game. You will see some different strategy in the next match,” he admitted.

He praised Deepak Hudda and Prashant Rai for their outstanding performance in the match and defended their decision of not giving Meraj Sheykh many chances to raid.

“Today, Deepak Nivas Hudda and Prashant Rai performed very well. While two of our players Deepak and Prashant were playing good we decided not to try Meraj Sheykh. If some of players are scoring so we have to go with them,” he concluded.
