U Mumba to give chance to its fringe players in the remaining two games

U Mumba players pose ahead of the tournament

U Mumba’s dominance in the Star Sports Pro Kabaddi League so far has given them the luxury to do few experiments and check the depth in their squad. Having already qualified for the semi-finals and the No.1 team from the league stage, with two games to spare, U-Mumba will look to test some of its youngsters in the those games.

U Mumba have a semi-final game lined up on Friday in Mumbai and they don’t want to risk any of their main players ahead of the crucial semi-final according to skipper Aup Kumar. “We have played well and qualified early. But we don’t want any injuries to happen before the semi-finals, so we will be using our main players sparingly and carefully”, the U Mumba captain said.

Kabaddi is a demanding sport physically and constant action in the last month or so has left some of the players slightly jaded. So, U Mumba will use these games to rest some of these players so that they return for the semi-finals in the best possible shape.

“We have been playing constantly for a month, so fatigue has set in. It has not been easy to lay so many games back to back. So we want to take this opportunity to rest some of our regulars. I too may sit out of the games”, added Anup Kumar.

The captain though was bullish about his team’s chances of winning both the games without their more seasoned regulars. “We have a very string group of players. But not all can play. So this is their chance to prove their worth and try and get into the team for the semi-finals. I am confident they will do well and hopefully we will win both the matches, Anup Kumar said.

U Mumba take on hosts Puneri Paltan later today and follow it up with a mouth-watering clash with the Telugu Titans tomorrow.
