One man stole the show and his innings proved pivotal for the Rangers to chase this score. Yes, he is none other than Mahedi Hasan. In a wicket where the other batters struggled to get going, Mahedi took the attack to the opposition and didn't give any chance for the Dominators to have momentum into this contest. We have one more match to go in just over an hour. Switch tabs to find out the live coverage of that one. Until then, this is Pragadeesh and Bidipto signing off
Nurul Hasan, Rangpur Riders captain: The bowlers bowled really well and Mahedi Hasan played a fine knock to give us a really handy start, and eventually, a win. Azmatullah Omarzai has bowled well for the last three matches, and hope this run continues for him. We have four more matches in the league phase, so the idea is to keep the winning momentum carries forward.
Mahedi Hasan (Player of the Match): It is a massive moment for me, to get a half-century in a winning cause, but would have been happier to stay there right till the end. The seniors helped me through this phase and now, hopefully, both my bowling and batting, will come good for the rest of the tournament. My idea while bowling in T20 cricket, is to bowl more dot balls and put pressure on the batters to upset their rhythm.
Nasir Hossain, Dhaka Dominators captain: It was a good wicket to bat on, but again, we lost three wickets in the power play and on the whole, we were about 30-40 runs short. It another batter, up at the top, got going, we could have fared better in this match and the partnerships eluded us too. 140 was not quite a defendable score here, we still tried, but the outfield and the wicket was good for playing shots to be honest.
RR won by 5 wickets Mahedi Hasan 72(43) | Usman Ghani 73(55) Azmatullah 2-27(4) | Salman Irshad 2-36(4)
Hossain could've had a chat with Irshad, who started bowling poor line and length but he looked like this match was done and dusted a long time back. When a captain possesses body language like this, then the rest of the team of course look down and out. Anyway, a better team won the contest as Mahedi played a smashing knock of 72 from 43 deliveries and that turned out to be match-defining.
The bowling choices from Nasir Hossain was questionable too as he could've given one more over to Taskin inside the powerplay,. He kept relying on Irshad, who was below par, while Hossain himself didn't do much with the ball either. To make things bad to worse, the fielding continued to be sloppy as there were so many misfields in the important moments
