Thanks a lot for joining us for the coverage of the third and final ODI between India and Australia from the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai! Australia dished up revenge after being outclassed in the sole Test and take the series 3-0. This is our team at SK- Mohul Bhowmick, Soumarya Dutta, Bidipto Datta and Pradeep- saying goodbye. Until next time, ciao!
Alyssa Healy, Australia captain - It was an unbelievable effort from the girls. I am very happy and proud for them. Phoebe is a phenomenon. Just 20 years old and yet shows how composed she is with the bat in hand. I think we have a lot of top players in our team, and while that is a blessing, it is also a curse at times as I am not sure whom to give opportunities to. However, each one of them puts their hand up from time to time and wants to do well for Australia. Long may it continue!
Phoebe Litchfield, Player of the match and Player of the Series - " It was a team effort but it was pretty cool to be able to play that innings. The first innings of the series was challenging but this one was more challenging. I kept getting better throughout the series. It's about adjusting as early as possible in these conditions. When those catches stick it's really great so it was cool to get them done. We practice them a lot at training and it's more about the instinct. We will go back to the change room and have a good celebration since winning three games in a row is a great achievement. "
The SBI LIFE AWARD goes to Alana King
Phoeba Litchfield is the Gamechanger of the match.
Harmanpreet Kaur, Indian Captain - This ODI series didn't go well for us despite the fact that we tried our best. When we were playing with the red ball we had a lot time but in the white ball format it's too quick and I think we couldn't capitalize on that. The new comers have been great and Shreyanka was great for us today. Whenever somebody got an opportunity, they put their hands up. We alway talk about how good the Aussies are on the field and I guess we can learn that from them since we have slightly let ourselves down in the field.
Alana King - " Really stoked and glad to have clinched the series 3-0! The girls were really good and took some really good catches. The middle order and Phoebe set the game beautifully for us and it meant that we were ahead of the game. Myself and Wareham came in late and had some fun and added some crucial runs. We knew that we had to keep taking wickets. We didn't want to give them a sniff and ensured that we kept chipping away at the wickets. "
Australia beat India by 190 runs and take the series 3-0!
India never really looked like they were in the chase today and succumbed to the pressure put to them by the Australian bowlers. The latter put India on a leash constantly and made sure that they did not get off to a good start.
Openers Yastika Bhatia and Smriti Mandhana tried their best to ensure that they gave their side a start that could take them close to the gigantic total that they were chasing.
Megan Schutt began the carnage for Australia by picking up both openers but it was the spin troika of Ashleigh Gardner, Georgia Wareham and Alana King who stuck to their gameplans and put the Indian middle-order out of their misery.
The final blows were struck by Annabel Sutherland, who picked up two wickets of consecutive deliveries. India have now lost all three matches in the ODI series, and apart from the win in the lone Test, they do not have much to showcase in this series.
The T20 leg of this series, which begins on January 5, will provide India with an opportunity to showcase that they can compete with Australia on a level footing when it comes to playing white-ball cricket, and will be quite interesting to watch. As of now, however, Australia have won the ODI leg 3-0.
And that will be that! The third umpire took his time to adjudge it, but the replays suggested that she had indeed taken the catch cleanly!
