Shadab Khan (Islamabad United's captain and Player of the match) - The pitch was not as usual, it seamed early and was spongy. We tried to show intent early because if we get momentum here it can be hard to stop. We did not have a target in mind, but we wanted to take it over by over and keep getting boundaries with one shorter side. With the way we batted, I felt that if we had a good first 6 overs in the second innings, we should be good. We have very good players and can beat anyone on a given day. I am in good rhythm personally, Shah brothers are really doing well for us, Hunain is getting better day-by-day and will hopefully play for Pakistan soon. You always get a settled playing-11 during a tournament and we are very happy with the way we are going.

A much-needed victory for Islamabad United who have outplayed Peshawar Zalmi and have swapped places with them in the points table moving to the third spot.

It was all set up in the powerplay by the quicks of Islamabad who were phenomenal and put Peshawar Zalmi on the backfoot within the first few overs. All of it started when Babar Azam was run out on a duck in the very first over with a brilliant direct-hit from Alex Hales, his opening partner Saim Ayub followed him back to the pavilion in the same over.

Peshawar were shell-shocked with the dual blow and they were blown away within the first 6 overs as they lost 5 wickets in the period of play. It was all but over for them but they still managed to put up a fightback with a brilliant 107-run partnership for the sixth wicket between Aamer Jamal and Paul Walter. But, as soon as the partnership was broken by the Islamabad skipper Shadab Khan in the 16th over it came to a close for Peshawar very soon with Shadab Khan getting 3 wickets in the end. Even though Aamer Jamal played a scintillating knock of 87, it was never going to be enough for them. The Shah brothers, Naseem and Hunain were brilliant with the ball it was their strikes in the powerplay which proved to be the difference.

Earlier, it was a brilliant effort with the bat from Shadab Khan who got 80 and set up the score of 196 for Islamabad. Valuable scores from Salman Agha and a cameo from Azam Khan at the end made sure that Islamabad got to a competitive total. Peshawar were decent with the ball with Saim Ayub getting 2 wickets but let themselves down in the field.

Overall, it was a target that could have been chased but Peshawar lost the match in the powerplay of their batting effort.

Babar Azam (Peshawar Zalmi captain): I thought we did a reasonable job with the ball, kept them down to the par score. But losing four wickets early on did not help at all. Aamir Jamal did give us some hope, but it was a bridge too far I guess! (On his run out) I thought the run was on and took off for it, but it was not the best decision in hindsight. I do feel this was a total that we could chase down but we messed it up early in the piece. We did have a lot of positives in both innings but will like to execute our plans better the next time.

Hunain Shah (Islamabad United): It's a tremendous opportunity for me to showcase my talent! Islamabad United back the youngsters and the team management is pretty positive in their approach. Naseem told me to hit the hard length more often than not and that's what I stuck to. He also told me to stick to my strengths. My goal as a bowler is to improve every match. Shadab Khan, as a captain is more like a friend. He takes a lot of pressure off us youngsters by making things easier, both off and on the field.
