Irfan Pathan [Konark Surya Odisha captain]: I told the boys it is a slow pitch, lets fight it out. Shabaz started well. Vinay and Ben were outstanding. Munaweera and Stewart did their job as well. Overall everyone was outstanding. Just before the last ball Laughlin was at square leg. He has just come from Australia and is jet lagged. He had bowled as well. So, he was not moving as swiftly. Vinay Kumar came to me and told me to swap the fielder. I placed Rayudu there and it worked. Anyone else, might not have got there. The plan was to hit the pitch but bowl slow. Eventually one ball stayed low and we won it.
Vinay Kumar [Player of the Match]:(On his cameo with the bat) It was really crucial because it was a low scoring game. They were trying to bowl yorkers from around the wicket, so I tried to play the cheeky shots and I got success. I have been practicing those. Whole team played well, credit goes to everyone. Cross shots were very difficult because of the low bounce. Winning the first game will boost our confidence. Irfan led well.
Harbhajan Singh (Manipal Tigers' captain) : It was chasable, it was not a big score. Unfortunately, we did not get going and it was not an easy wicket for the batters. Proud of the boys though, they played really well, specially Dan(Christian) and Pienaar. Good to be back playing this tournament. In small chases like this, someone has to take the positive route, unfortunately it did not go our way. It is just the start of the season, it's okay. It was a see-saw kind of a game, could have gone anywhere but then we should be proud of ourselves.
The third season of Legends League Cricket has begun with an absolute blockbuster!! It was not your everyday wham-bam-thank you-man sort of T20 match. It was rather a game where every run had to be earned. But it went down to the last ball and turned out to be a humdinger.
We all thought that KSO had not got enough on the board. But Nadeem, Vinay Kumar and Ben Laughlin picked a wicket in each of the first 3 overs and suddenly the target of 105 started to look like a steep climb. The challenge only got more daunting as Munaweera and Stewart too delivered miserly overs. The Tigers could not get boundaries and they did not intend on getting ones and twos. It was only when Christian and Pienaar had a partnership that some sanity was restored. They took the team close to the finish line but once again, Vinay Kumar stood in the way. The Karnataka seamer had played a vital cameo with the bat in hand and now dismissed Christian in the penultimate over to swing the pendulum back into his team's favour.
Irfan Pathan, who had not bowled an over in the match before, decided to take the responsibility of bowling the final over. Anureet smashed him for a six early to put him under pressure. But he held his nerve and ultimately finished the job, getting his team the win.
WHAT A FINISH!! The entire KSO team is on the park celebrating the win. Irfan Pathan is the man of the moment.

19.6 Irfan Pathan to Obus Pienaar, AMBATI RAYUDU TAKES A SPECTACULAR CATCH AND KONARK SURYAS ODISHA WIN, pace-off delivery once again and Pienaar waits for it, pulls it but does not get hold of it, it goes high up in the air between square leg and mid-wicket, two men in contention as the ball seems to not have enough legs to go the distance, it is Rayudu who runs around and gets under it, holds his nerve and completes a fine diving catch, he is ecstatic and so is the entire team of Konark Suryas Odisha, they have gone past the defending champions in the season opener
Obus Pienaar c Ambati Rayudu b Irfan Pathan 34(24b, 0x4, 2x6).
1 ball, 3 runs. Can Pienaar take them home?
