What an incredible game of cricket! Hope you enjoyed it as much as we did here at Sportskeeda. However, for the time being this is me Vatsal on behalf of Pragadeesh signing off. Thanks for tuning in and have a great rest of your day!
Quetta Gladiators win by six wickets.
Saud Shakeel - 88* (65) | Abrar Ahmed - 2/31 Abdullah Shafique - 59* (39) | Jahandad Khan - 2/30
What an incredible end to yet another PSL classic! Quetta Gladiators looked down and out at one stage but the players, particularly Saud Shakeel backed himself to get the runs despite Lahore Qalandars bowlers drying up the boundaries in the middle overs.
Credit to LQ bowlers, particularly Jahandad Khan's opening spell who barely gave away any runs. The spinners were also excellent in the middle overs with George Linde and Sikandar Raza keeping a check on the run-rate. However, they failed to pick any wickets, allowing Shakeel and Khawaja Nafay to build a partnership.
Shakeel, however, was there till the end, scoring boundaries when necessary and rotating the strike to keep the scoreboard ticking. Lahore Qalandars did get two late wickets but it was too little too late for them. Quetta Gladiators managed to score 29 off the last two overs to seal the game. They needed 14 off the final over and four runs off the last bowl. Mohammad Wasim, however, remained calm and pulled Shaheen Shah Afridi's length bowl for a six to win it for his side!
Quetta Gladiators have therefore won the game by six wickets and have qualified for the playoffs with a game to spare. They still have a chance to make it into the top two. Lahore Qalandars, on the other hand, end a disappointing campaign with yet another defeat.
Rilee Rossouw (Quetta Gladiators Captain) - A lot of emotions there right at the end. We have qualified (for the playoffs) but our job isn't over yet. I felt like they (Lahore) were under-par, maybe 10 or 15 runs under so we were very happy with what we put up and it was one of our best bowling performances of the tournament. He (Shakeel) is young, he is still learning his game and he is hitting the ball well. We are happy with our formula of our team and we will stick with it. We want to beat Multan, we want to end in that top two spot, that's our goal.
Saud Shakeel (Player of the Match, Quetta Gladiators) - I was thinking of taking the game deep because I was getting starts for the past 5-6 games but failing to capitalise on the same and that was the plan today. Full credit to Wasim for finishing the game off the last ball when we needed four runs. I realised quite early on in my innings that it is difficult to hit the ball. Playing all my cricket in Karachi has benefitted me since I am aware how the conditions play out here.
Shaheen Afridi (Lahore Qalanders Captain) - Congrats to Quetta as they played good cricket. The last four overs, they played according to plan. 167 isn't a big total on this deck but last 14 runs I should've defended. The way he has started and throughout, he played good cricket. He deserved the win. We played good cricket but next year, we makes sure to grab the opportunities.
WOW, JUST WOW! What an incredible finish to the game we have had here! Sir Viv Richards cannot control his emotions as he runs onto the pitch to celebrate with Wasim and Saud Shakeel!

19.6 Shaheen Afridi to Mohammad Wasim, SIX! Look at the scenes in the middle. The Gladiators win and seal the playoffs spot. What a finish to the game and what a strike that was from Wasim. Afridi could've bowled a yorker but he saw Wasim was shuffling across, so he opted for a length delivery. It sits up on the deck and Wasim heaves it over square leg for a maximum. We have the final four in this edition of the PSL
19.5 Shaheen Afridi to Saud Shakeel, off-pace delivery angling around off, Shakeel attempts another reverse ramp. It's a questionable shot at this stage and he runs across to the other end
5 off two legal deliveries now!
19.4 Shaheen Afridi to Saud Shakeel, FOUR MORE! This is sloppy from the fielder at mid-off. Wiese is the fielder as he runs with the ball instead of diving. Shakeel checks his drive and gets it over mid-off. Wiese runs and the ball wins the race
