Yorkshire Vikings defeat Leicestershire Foxes by 30 runs. They climb up to the top four spots in the north group points table.
It’s been a brilliant turn-around from the Yorkshire Vikings as they eclipse the Leicestershire Foxes in their own backyard. At one stage in the first innings, they were on a tricky situation. It was David Wiese and Ben Mike who turned up for their side and delivered a brilliant all-round performance.
Earlier, the Yorkshire Vikings managed to post 156 runs on the back of David Wiese’s half-century which came at the need of the hour. He was well succored by Ben Mike who arrived at the scene when Yorkshire was 78-7 after 13.4 overs. The tag team went on to add 78 more runs without throwing away any wickets till the end of the innings.
The Vikings chose to bat first after winning the toss. The Leicestershire skipper made an intelligent choice to resort to early spin in the form of Callum Parkinson who removed Dawid Malan in the second over. They withstood a terrible middle-order collapse as the young duo of Rehan Ahmed and Josh Hull made them dance around the crease.
Courtesy of some lusty blows from Wiese and Mike helped the Vikings to propell the score past the 150 milestone mark.
The second innings unfurled almost in a similar fashion until the powerplay. There were two wickets snapped and the Foxes had lost both their openers. Eventually, Rishi Patel and Wiaan Mulder ticked the scoreboard with occasional boundaries for the third wicket. But as soon as Jafer Chohan was introduced, the game saw drought in run-piling.
Jordan Thompson came into the fray and fragmented the stand by trapping Patel leg before wicket. All the other bowlers stood firm into the attack and wreaked havoc with Thompson being the wreaker in chief.
The wily medium-pacer ended up with a fifer under his name and assisted in restricting the Lewis Hill-led side by a margin of 30 runs. It's an anti-climax for the home side as they incur a loss and reel at the bottom of the table despite a win in their previous battle.
19.3 Jordan Thompson to Michael Finan, FIFER FOR THOMPSON TO FINISH THINGS OFF! Pitched up outside the off-stump line, Finan swings for the fences and only manages to slice this straight up. Thompson settles underneath it and completes the catch to wrap up the proceedings. Yorkshire win by 30 runs!
19.2 Jordan Thompson to Josh Hull, back of a length angled into Hull. He makes some room to tap it through point for one
19.1 Jordan Thompson to Josh Hull, searching for the yorker to angle it in. Hull manages to shovel it down the pitch, no run
Jordan Thompson [3.0-0-20-4], is into the attack for the last over. He is on a hat-trick.

Josh Hull, LHB, is the last man out to bat for the Foxes.
18.5 Ben Mike to Callum Parkinson, PARKINSON DEPARTS! Another short delivery does the trick. Parkinson backed away to try and upper-cut and only got enough on it to find Wiese at third man. Yorkshire is one wicket away from the two points they'd want to pocket. The TV umpire checks for a no-ball due to elevation and after taking his time decides to go with the Vikings.
