A month ago, a total of 150 didn't seem safe in the European Cricket Championship. Well, the conditions and quality of cricket are far off from that, but still, a target of 77 is expected to be gunned down with time to spare on most occasions. Not only did Zagreb Sokol miscalculate the equation terribly, none of their batters succeeded in getting going.
Most of their top-order batters just weren't able to apply themselves. Not being able to find the big strokes, they could have looked to pierce the gaps early on - not everything needed to be bashed. Their top-order fell trying to aim for the big shots, more dot deliveries followed in the process of trying to go big, and by the time Sohail Ahmad struck a couple of sixes and piqued interest in the Sokol camp, the game was just about slipping away from their grasp.
Sohail's cameo was very short-lived - he perished just after those two sixes. Arpit Shukla tried his best to keep it going, but once he fell as well, the game was always going to slip away from Zagreb Sokol. Ljubljana pull off a heist!
