Scotland XI beat Portugal by 6 wickets!
Oli Hairs 39* (16) | Jack Hogarth 4-11 Michael English 33 (12) | Mackenzie Jones 2-16
As was expected, Scotland XI cruised to a comfortable win here today owing to the brilliance shown by their batters in the second innings.
While their bowlers were responsible for putting Portugal on the mat and restricting them to a lowly total, their batters sealed the deal for them in the end thanks to a stupendous performance.
Oli Hairs and Michael English- the openers- tore into the Portuguese bowlers and made the most of the fielding restrictions in the powerplay. Junaid Khan, who was the best bowler for Portugal throughout this tournament, was torn into shreds by both English and Hairs.
Although he did come back strongly to pick up two consecutive wickets in the third over, he could not quite prevent Scotland XI from running away with the victory. They will now meet Germany in the final of Group F.
McBride does it in style for Scotland XI!
6.5 Francoise Stoman to Christopher McBride, SIX! The Scotland XI are through to the final of group F, claiming this contest by 6 wickets! Full, swinging away, McBride gets under this one as well, slashes it with immense timing over deep point, and clears the ropes!
6.4 Francoise Stoman to Christopher McBride, FOUR! Slow drag down on leg stump, McBride helps this one past the fielder at short fine, and finds the boundary!
6.3 Francoise Stoman to Oli Hairs, dropped! Full, on leg stump, Hairs picks it off his pads, but finds the man at short fine, who was late to react. The batters get a run
6.2 Francoise Stoman to Christopher McBride, slower ball, close to the blockhole, drilled towards long off for a run
6.1 Francoise Stoman to Christopher McBride, FOUR! Full outside off, McBride got under the line of the ball, and clubbed it over the bowler's head. The ball bounces just in front of the ropes
Hairs will want to ensure that Scotland XI do not face any more hiccups in this game. Skipper McBride, on the other hand, will want to finish the game off as quickly as possible.
