Right then, that was some chase for India as they started off really well in the powerplay despite losing a couple of wickets. They went charging after the bowlers and at that stage, it certainly seemed as though they would race along and run away with the game. However, they lost a few wickets in the middle and it did get slightly tight.
Although, with not a lot to chase, they always had the run-rate under control, which allowed them to get over the line easily in the end. Verma and Meghana showed good intent but will want to convert their starts. A good knock from Smriti as well and the experienced skipper Harman making sure she was out there till the very end to see her side through. We did see some sensible batting from India towards the backend and complete a convincing win.
Some things that India will look to fine tune going into that final T20I though as they will want to end with a clinical performance. As for hosts Sri Lanka, a disappointing end as they could not defend the target and concede the series as well with that. They simply did not have enough runs to play with. That said, they bowled really well to stretch this game and take it down to the very final over. They did pick up wickets in the middle and ensured that India did not run away with the game, liked it looked at one stage.
Positives to take away from the bowling and as they go into that final game, looking to salvage some pride, they will have to work on their batting. They were once again reliant on Chamari today and the rest of the batters to follow couldn't really do much, which is why they did not have the runs on the board as they would have liked to. Their poor run continues and they will be desperate to finish the series on a high.
India will be pleased to return to winning ways after having come into this series on the back on successive defeats. This will give them confidence going forward and they will certainly aim for a whitewash with one more game to go.
This has been Shashwat and myself (Rishab) and that is all we have from this game then. We will be back with the final game of the series. Until then, do switch tabs to catch all the action from around the globe and have a great weekend folks. Goodbye and take care!
Harmanpreet Kaur, winning captain and 'Player of the Match': I am happy and you always feel good when you hit the winning runs. It was not an easy track to bat on and the way we managed and batted, I am happy with it. It's part of the game that the other team will give you some hard time. It is important to stay calm and when I got the chance to bowl, I wanted to bowl slow and the plan worked. I am happy we could execute our plans.
Chamari Athapaththu, losing captain: I think we batted well but we did not play our best cricket in the last six overs. We were 15 runs short and Harman and Smriti batted really well in this game. I am very happy about the young players who are playing good cricket and I hope they will continue to do so.
Done and dusted as Harman finishes off with a boundary then. India win with five balls and as many wickets to spare. Comfortable in the end and they will also take the series 2-0 with that. Unassailable lead and Sri Lanka will be disappointed with another lacking performance for the second time in the series!
19.1 Kavisha Dilhari to Harmanpreet Kaur, FOUR! THAT WILL BE THAT! Length delivery outside off stump. Harmanpreet walks across her stumps and shovels it over backward square leg to seal the series for the Women In Blue! Clinical performance by the visitors and fitting that their captain has seen them past the finish line!
Smart and sensible batting from India. Sri Lanka cannot afford to be giving away these easy runs and they would have liked to tighten the field. They have allowed India to get close without pressure. This game will go into the final over then. Can Sri Lanka produce something magical? Just 3 more off 6 needed!
