Sydney Sixers 220/3 (20) beat Perth Scorchers 206/7 (20) by 14 runs
Steven Smith 121*(64) | Moises Henriques 46(28)
Ashton Turner 66*(32) | Sean Abbott 4-43(4)
The Sydney Sixers have secured two valuable points tonight! It was the Perth Scorchers who would've surely been more desperate for it but despite the best efforts of their skipper Ashton Turner, they end up falling short by just 14 runs with Steven Smith's innings perhaps being the difference between the two sides.
The Scorchers got off to a strong start in the power play despite losing a couple of wickets in the fourth over. They couldn't control the middle overs though as wickets kept tumbling at regular intervals. After good knocks by Sam Fanning and Cooper Connolly, it was skipper Ashton Turner and Matthew Spoors who kept the Scorchers in the game with their quick-fire 76-run partnership.
They failed to capitalise on the Power Surge as well, which perhaps costed them this match. The duo of Turner and Spoors got the game very close but failed to seal it in the end. Sean Abbott starred with a 4-wicket haul while Dwarshuis, Hayden Kerr and Henriques picked up one wicket each.
The Sixers will now face the Strikers in a few days' time while qualification chances for the Scorchers look bleak with a tough game against the Thunder next.
