Commentary

Right then, it brings us to the end of another cracker jack of a CPL contest. Lots of cricketing action lined up for the rest of the day. Keep following Sportskeeda but from here this is myself (Arya Sekhar Chakraborty) biding goodbye.

Dwayne Bravo: Very emotional. The guys were given me a hard time that I would cry. Five more seconds and I would have cried. I appreciate the love the guys have shown. We have a lot of good memories over the years. Darren Bravo six is a great memory which won us out last tournament. Yeah it was discussed. The captain had to officially okay otherwise it wouldn't have been possible. He would have been wicked to say no (laughs). My son first time saw me play cricket.

Kieron Pollard (Trinbago Knight Riders captain): Yeah it was special. One of our icons bids adieu who has done incredibly well for Trinidad and Tobago and for West Indies. This is indeed a special day. We share a lot on and off the field. He has shown what we can do as all-rounders. It was a fantastic game. The pitch wasn't conducive to strokeplay. The middle overs both teams lost wickets. Both teams they did well in the back end. We have to come back again tomorrow and keep these things in mind. Short turnaround. The fans keep coming. The see of red from 5 o clock. We can't thank them enough. Hopefully they continue to support us. Let's see what happens in the next twenty-four hours.

Shai Hope (Guyana Amazon Warriors captain): I don't like to pinpoint too much on the toss. We obviously set ourselves a bit below par score but it was great to see the fight shown by the bowling unit. Shepherd is one of the best in the world. He gave us a shout at the halfway stage. Without his knock, we would have been well short. He has been struggling but hopefully he can bowl in the coming games. We fought hard. The way the guys bowled in the middle overs. I hope we can continue fighting like this and we can win more games. This is the only place where you won't see more Warriors fans. It's always great to play infront of these fans.

Andre Russell is the Player of the Match, here is what he had to say: It feels look to be back in the middle. I have been struggling with the ankle injury. The dedication and the hard work I did whatever the physio told me. When you work hard you get good results. Mindset was just try and hit sixes. I said to Tim, let's try to hit eight sixes off 24 deliveries. Final match for Dwayne Bravo and that was a great moment to bid him adieu with a win. Based on the batting we have, these things do happen. Guyana struggled to 149. The game shouldn't have come down to this but once we get these close wins, these are happy days. I think me being who I am, Bravo has a lot to do. I used to wicket keep and then watching him play in Tests for West Indies pushed me to become an all-rounder. So much emotion behind the celebration. He has helped him a lot in cricket. He has made a smarter bowler and made me learn my execution. Hopefully he stays around for the rest of the tournament. He might shed a few tears in the dressing room today. This one is for DJ Bravo.

Two exceptional hits from Tim David to take the Trinbago Knight Riders over the finish line in a nail biting thriller. Keemo Paul couldn't quite get his lengths right in the final over which brought down curtains on the match. The Guyana Amazon Warriors fought hard but some of the bowling changes certainly was baffling. With the ball turning and bouncing, Moeen Ali and Gudakesh Motie weren't used for their full quota and in hindsight, that might be a decision which backfired.

The target of 149 seemed to be a below-par one at the halfway stage but the Amazon Warriors bowlers came out all guns blazing and put the Knight Riders in a whole heap of pressure. Sunil Narine started the innings with a six and a four off the first over before Moeen Ali castled him with an absolute beauty which had drift and turn on that. Shaqkere Parris was joined by Keacy Carty in the middle and the two youngsters struggled to rotate the strike consistently.

Parris struck a couple of massive blows while Carty failed to find any boundary in his innings. It was the introduction of the debutant leggie Nathan Sowter which turned the match in favour of the Amazon Warriors. Parris was holed out at long-on while Carty was castled by a beauty of a wrong un. Nicholas Pooran and Kieron Pollard tried to stitch a partnership together but Shamar Joseph had other ideas and bowled the TKR skipper with a beauty of an indipper. Nicholas Pooran had to take his chances and departed off a low full toss as the ball rapped onto his pads.

At 89/5, Andre Russell came into join David and changed the dynamics of the game within a blink of an eye. He smashed Sowter for three sixes in the 17th over which swung the pendulum well in favour of the Knight Riders. Two good overs took the game to the final over but David was equal to the task as he smashed back to back sixes to see them over the finish line. Sowter was the pick of the bowlers for the Warriors, finishing with 2/37 in four overs.

19.2 Keemo Paul to Tim David, SIX! Tim David finishes it off in style. Juicy full toss down leg which has been flicked on it's way and comfortably clears the deep fine leg fielder. TKR WIN BY 5 WICKETS.
