4 new weapon tiers for Minecraft
Minecraft's simplicity is one of its strengths, but a few more weapon tiers could further broaden its gameplay. As of writing, the game only has five main tiers: wood, stone, iron, diamond, and netherite. Incorporating Obsidian, silver, copper, and enderite would bring something unique to the game, without overwhelming players. These new tiers would offer something fresh and exciting.
Players would have to think about which materials to use for specific tasks — whether it’s mining, building, or fighting. These tiers would also create new mining goals and crafting recipes, keeping Minecraft fresh for new and experienced players. Here are how the four new weapon tiers work in the game.

4 new weapon tiers for Minecraft
1) Obsidian tier
Obsidian tools and weapons would be a great addition to Minecraft. They could be slightly weaker than diamonds in terms of attack power but would shine in regards to durability. Obsidian tools could last much longer, making them an excellent choice for those who want to save their diamonds for other purposes.
But there’s a twist! Once the tool or weapon loses half its durability, it would turn into a “crying obsidian” tier. In this form, it would still be usable but function with stats similar to iron tools. This feature would make obsidian both functional and unique, encouraging players to mine more of this tough block.
Limiting its usage to portals seems myopic. It’s perfect for those who want durable tools without jumping straight to diamonds.
2) Silver tier
Silver would be a fantastic introductory tier for those who frequently fight undead mobs like zombies and skeletons. Silver tools and weapons could be similar to iron in strength but with low durability. The big advantage would be Extra damage to undead mobs. With a silver sword, you could take down zombies faster and more efficiently.
Silver armor would also have a special property. It would suffer less damage when fighting the undead. This could be immensely useful when exploring dungeons or battling hordes of skeletons.
Furthermore, silver weapons could inflict even more damage to wither-related mobs, making it a strategic choice against the Wither boss. This tier would add depth to combat and give players a reason to craft tools for specific situations.
3) Copper tier
Copper is already in Minecraft, but it’s mostly used for decorative blocks and lightning rods. Adding a copper weapon tier would give this material a lot more value. Copper tools and weapons could fill the gap between stone and iron. They could be slightly stronger than stone but not as powerful as iron.
A unique feature of the copper tier could be its role in mining progression. Similar to the “Better on Bedrock” mod, players might need copper tools to mine iron. This would make iron more valuable and add a new step to the mining process.
Copper tools could also have a unique visual design, with their iconic orange color adding variety to your inventory. By giving copper more uses, players would have a reason to mine this ore beyond just building.
4) Enderite tier
Enderite would be the ultimate weapon tier in Minecraft. Found in the End, this material would be even stronger and more durable than netherite. To craft enderite tools and weapons, players would need to combine crying obsidian tools with a new Enderite Upgrade Smithing Template. This adds an extra layer of challenge and achievement.
Enderite weapons would have unmatched attack power, rendering them perfect for fighting bosses like the Ender Dragon. Their durability would ensure they last a long time, even during tough battles.
Enderite tools could also have a unique glow or particle effect, helping them stand out visually. Furthermore, this tier would encourage Minecraft players to explore the End more thoroughly.
