5 best features and changes in Minecraft Bedrock 1.21.30 update

Minecraft 1.21.30 for Bedrock Edition debuted on September 17, 2024, and introduces several changes and bug fixes besides introducing a feature or two to the vanilla game from past Bedrock previews. Compared to recent previews, this new base game update features a number of tweaks and additions that are worth downloading and checking out.

In this article, we look at some of the best features and changes from Minecraft Bedrock 1.21.30, as not every addition and fix is necessarily impactful.

Five of the best features and changes in Minecraft Bedrock 1.21.30

1) Bundles arrive in the base game

Bundles, an item used to store multiple items/blocks in a single inventory slot, were originally intended to be released during the Caves & Cliffs update. Years later, after testing in Bedrock previews, bundles have finally been introduced in the base Bedrock Edition, albeit as an Experimental Feature. Even so, these items work quite well when you need additional inventory space.

It should be noted that, as an Experimental Feature, bundles may still encounter bugs or other unintended issues, but they no longer require you to access Bedrock previews just to use them.

2) Tweak to ominous bottles

Minecraft's ominous bottles, when consumed, can bestow varying degrees of the Bad Omen effect, depending on their rank. However, in past builds of Bedrock Edition, it wasn't possible to consume a lower-ranked bottle to bestow a lower-ranked version of Bad Omen if a higher-ranked version of Bad Omen was already active.

Fortunately, this has been fixed in Bedrock 1.21.30, which means you can now consume any ominous bottles you'd like to get the appropriate rank of Bad Omen regardless of the effect that's currently active.

3) A trial chamber tweak

When Mojang Studios first introduced trial chambers in Minecraft 1.21, you could find empty chests at the entrance of the structures. It appears there was some confusion among players as to what they were for. Mojang later stated they were intended for disposal/inventory management, and the developer has made a fix to better clarify this in Bedrock 1.21.30.

Specifically, the empty chests have been replaced with barrels connected to hoppers feeding into them. This allows you to dump unwanted items into the barrel as you explore the trial chamber.

4) Item/block name Java parity

In a continued push to avoid confusion between the Java and Bedrock Edition of the game, Bedrock 1.21.30 has made a collection of name changes for blocks and items, using the same references as in Java Edition. For example, Enchanted Apples are now Enchanted Golden Apples, like in Java. Several items and blocks have been altered in this fashion.

Hopefully, this avoids any confusion among the same items and blocks between Java and Bedrock based on their names.

5) The return of moody ambient music in basalt deltas

In past Minecraft updates, basalt delta biomes in the Nether used to have their own ambient music that would play as players explored, although this was later removed. However, it appears Mojang has reintroduced the moody music.

It's a small change, but fans who love the game's music at large will consider it a plus for the Bedrock 1.21.30 update.
