5 items Minecraft fans usually forget to use
Minecraft has thousands of different items, from small to large, that players can use. Some items are essential, like the pickaxe. Other items are important but not too necessary. However, there are some things in the game that are so basic or useless that players often forget to use them. Not only that but gamers can forget that these items even exist.
This article will list down the items Minecraft fans often forget to use. We will also try to find the reason why these items are so obscure. There might be many players who regularly use them, but we are talking about the majority here.

5 Minecraft items that fans usually forget
1) Spyglass
Spyglass was revealed to the players in 2020, and while it did garner some attention at the beginning, the tool is mostly forgotten. Players can make this item through copper ingots and amethyst shards. It is fairly easy to make. So why do gamers mostly forget to use it? The reason is that the spyglass is basically useless.
Using this item, players can zoom in slightly on their surroundings. But it is barely useful, especially when the render distance is low. The spyglass is a gimmick item that does nothing, and mods such as Distant Horizons are much better when it comes to seeing farther.
2) Rabbit hide
When it comes to useless items that are often forgotten, rabbit hide is one item that will always make it to the list. Many players are not even sure why Mojang Studios added it. The developers need to make it better. Rabbit can be used to make normal leather, but there’s a catch.
Players need four rabbit hides to make just one piece of leather. When calculated, a total of 96 rabbit hides will be needed to make a leather armor set. No wonder why no one wants to use this item. With the release of the Bundles of Bravery update, Mojang Studios had given some use to rabbit hide, as players could use it to craft bundles. However, they soon removed this feature.
3) Andesite
Many building blocks in Minecraft are rarely used. Andesite is certainly one of them. A majority of the player base just uses wood blocks and cobblestone blocks for most of their building projects. There are other useful blocks such as terracotta, concrete, granite and upcoming blocks such as resin brick and Pale Oak wood.
All of these blocks just push the andesite further down in the “use chart.” Considering how similar it looks to smooth stone, there's little to no use for collecting andesite for building projects.
4) Poisonous potato
Perhaps the most useless item in the game is poisonous potatoes, which can be found when growing potatoes. As mentioned, this item has no use other than just using up inventory space. When consumed, it damages the player. Mojang Studios has not added a better use for it ever since its inception.
The April Fool’s update this year added a new dimension inspired by the potato. It also added many uses for the poisonous potato. Developers just need to take one of those features and permanently add it to the game. Till that happens, poisonous potatoes will be another forgettable item.
5) Cakes
Cakes are some of the oldest items in the game. It was added way back in 2010, just a year after Minecraft’s release. Despite more than a decade of being in the game, the cake is one of the most forgettable items in the game. The reason for it is simple—players cannot consume cake directly from their inventory, as it needs to be placed down on a surface.
This massively reduces its use as a food source. Once placed on the surface, there is no way of putting it back into inventory. Hence, cakes are almost always used for decoration purposes and rarely as a food source.
