6 New Minecraft weapons we want to see in the future
Whenever a new weapon is added to Minecraft, it sparks excitement within the community, leading to discussions and speculation about its uses. Mojang doesn’t add a lot of weapons, though the newer additions often introduce unique mechanics that enhance gameplay. While these kinds of weapons are welcomed, we believe there is room for more tiers and new weapon types.
Before diving into the list, it’s important to note that some of the weapons we’ll mention may become overpowered if not balanced properly. As the game progresses, mobs could gradually acquire better equipment, eventually reaching the level of diamond-tier items.
This list will explore new tiers for existing weapons and entirely new weapon ideas that we hope to see in Minecraft.
Note: The list is subjective and reflects the author’s opinions.
6 New Minecraft weapons we want to see in the future
1) Spears
Spears could function similarly to tridents but would be craftable in various tiers, such as wood, gold, diamond, and beyond. These weapons could have enchantments like Loyalty but would not support Channeling. Moreover, spears could be versatile, serving as both melee and ranged weapons.
While spears would have a longer reach in close combat, they would deal more damage when used as a ranged weapon. However, throwing a spear could affect its durability. Enchantments like Piercing and Impaling could also enhance their effectiveness, particularly against aquatic mobs.
2) Copper-tier Weapons and Tools
Adding copper weapons and tools would expand crafting options for players. Copper gear could fall between stone and iron in terms of durability and power, and it could introduce a unique mechanic: copper would oxidize over time unless it’s waxed. This dynamic would require you to maintain your equipment.
Inspired by Poggy’s Better on Bedrock mod, copper weapons could serve as a prerequisite to crafting iron weapons. Since copper is relatively easy to mine, it wouldn’t make the game feel like a grind, while still offering an additional tier to help make higher-tier resources feel more valuable.
3) Boomerangs
Boomerangs would make an excellent lightweight ranged weapon, providing a unique alternative to bows and crossbows. Players could use boomerangs to hit multiple mobs with a single throw, thanks to their ability to curve and return. They could also briefly stun mobs, making them ideal for crowd control.
Boomerangs would come in two tiers: wood and iron. They could be dyed and customized, while enchantments like Returning or Swiftness could enhance their utility. By enchanting a boomerang with the Companion enchantment and repairing it, its durability could increase up to 3053, making it the most durable weapon in the game.
4)Obsidian-tier Weapons and Tools
Obsidian is known for its toughness, so introducing a set of obsidian tools and weapons seems like a natural fit. These items could boast extremely high durability but deal less damage than diamond or netherite gear.
Obsidian tools should not need any pre-requirements to craft, but they should be mandatory if the player wants to upgrade to the next tier of weaponry. Once the items’ durability drops below half, they could turn into the Crying Obsidian tier. You could also use obsidian items to get Crying Obsidian.
5) Elemental Staffs or Items
Elemental staffs or items could allow players to harness the power of different elements, such as fire, ice, lightning, and ender. For example, a Fire Staff could set mobs ablaze, while an Ice Staff could slow down enemies. Likewise, a Lightning Staff could summon thunderbolts during storms.
An ender Staff could allow players to teleport, similar to using ender pearls, but without the need for Ender Pearls themselves. Additionally, it could teleport mobs, making it easier to transport animals or villagers.
These items could require rare resources like amethyst or blaze rods for crafting, and they might consume durability or special fuels, such as glowstone dust to activate their powers.
6) Enderite-tier Weapons and Tools
The End dimension deserves more unique resources, and Enderite could fill that gap. Enderite weapons and tools could be even rarer and more powerful than netherite. Mining Enderite would require an obsidian or netherite pickaxe. Moreover, to craft Enderite items, you would need Enderite ingots that can only be smelted when you use radium as a fuel.
Radium, found in the End, would be used as fuel in a furnace to smelt raw Enderite into ingots. To craft Enderite items, you would need a smithing table, an Enderite ingot, the corresponding item from the obsidian tier, and a smithing template.
