5 best challenges Minecraft veteran players should try

Minecraft is an open-ended game that can be played as players see fit, but fans who have been playing it for quite some time might be getting a bit bored with the conventional Survival Mode experience. It's for this exact reason that the game's community has come up with a plethora of different challenges to make a Survival Mode run both exciting and more difficult.

If Minecraft veterans have gotten tired of running the same progression through Survival Mode, then the right challenges should be a welcome change that will put their skills to the test while also having plenty of fun along the way.

1) Speedrunning

The challenge that created an entire Minecraft community, speedrunning in Mojang's sandbox title is typically measured by how quickly players can progress from their world spawn to the defeat of the Ender Dragon. Depending on the seed, game version, and tactics used, there are several ways to reach the finish line in a short amount of time.

There are tons of nuances and factors to consider when speedrunning Mojang's beloved sandbox game, but learning them can be fun and there's a rewarding feeling about beating a prior completion time. While this challenge is essentially just speeding up a player's Survival Mode progression, there's an art to doing it well.

2) Nomad Challenge

Minecraft veterans may want to try out a nomad experience for a particularly intriguing challenge. These challenges come in many forms, but most focus on seeing how long players can survive without staying in a single area or shelter for longer than one night on Hard Mode. With the nomad experience, players must keep moving and can't take up permanent residence to survive.

While temporary shelters are usually permitted, players can ratchet up the challenge even further by implementing a no-shelter rule, forcing them to survive in the elements at all times as they continue to move about their world seed.

3) OneBlock Challenge

While one could make an argument for a SkyBlock challenge on this list, the OneBlock challenge should be even more interesting for Minecraft veterans. In this challenge, players will download and play on a game map that consists of a single block in the sky that can be mined multiple times. Players are tasked with rebuilding the Overworld while also still progressing through the Nether/End.

It's a long and laborious challenge, but once players are underway, they'll feel a deep sense of accomplishment at a world they've effectively crafted and survived in themselves, all from a single block in the sky.

4) 100 Days Challenge

Arguably one of the most versatile and popular Minecraft challenges of all time is the 100 Days Challenge, which (by default) tasks players with defeating the Ender Dragon within 100 in-game days and in Hardcore Mode. 100 days might seem like plenty of time to complete this task, but it can be pretty tough considering the difficulty setting and the fact that players only get one life in Hardcore Mode.

There are tons of variations for 100 Days Challenges, so players can pick one that suits them best. Regardless, these challenges won't be easy, and might just be the test that veterans are looking for.

5) See It, Kill It

This challenge's title says it all, if a player sees a mob, they have to fight and defeat it or die in the attempt. There are variations of this challenge, including requiring players to attack both passive and hostile mobs or just hostile mobs, but either way, players must become an engine of destruction.

A challenge like this can be a huge application of a veteran's combat prowess and strategic thinking, which should be good for players who love a good fight.
