"Google product logo vibes": Minecraft fan tweaks multiple block textures, sparking community defense of the originals
Over the course of 15 years, Minecraft has become one of the most iconic games, with its blocky design and texture having become recognizable almost everywhere. For this reason, it's unlikely the developers will change how various items in the title look. However, what happens when players start redesigning certain blocks?
A Minecraft player and Reddit user named u/Flimsy_Taro_9912 shared some images on the game's subreddit. The pictures showed tweaked designs of workstation blocks where an outer metal frame was added to make them look rugged. However, this also made all the blocks look generic and took away their uniqueness.
Reacting to the redesign, user u/hagowoga commented:
"Google product logo vibes."
This was in reference to how Google designs the logos of their products and services with the same color palette. That said, this simplification of design is not just limited to Google. Other companies have done the same thing, as pointed out by another user:
User u/DoYouEverJustInvert said this is exactly what tech companies do as soon as their logos start getting some recognition value. There have been many cases when big companies have made their logos simple and generic.
Another user named u/ShawshankException joked that changing the crafting table texture is against the Geneva Convention.
User u/Maskogre said that the original poster (or anyone) is allowed to change the texture of the crafting table block. Another user, u/ItsIdaho, agreed with them, saying that a stone rim around is acceptable but does not change the top of the block.
User u/Inderastein said they shared the same thoughts. The texture of the crafting table and even the cartography table has been an iconic element of Minecraft copied by many. However, they added that changing the grinder and stone cutter block was acceptable, as they found the new design decent. They also liked the smithing table block redesign.
New items in Minecraft
Minecraft recently got the Bundles of Bravery update that added two important things to the game. Bundles were finally included after four long years of waiting, while the Bedrock Edition got the Hardcore mode after nearly 11 years, making this a major update for console and smartphone gamers.
Apart from that, the developers also announced the Winter Drop which will add a new biome called the Pale Garden. This biome will have the Creaking mob that comes out during the night and attacks players when they are not looking at it.
