Halloween arrives early to Minecraft with new spooky mob and biome
In September 2024, Mojang hosted its annual Minecraft Live event, introducing a new spooky biome, Pale Garden, and a mob, called Creaking, to the sandbox game. Although the developers confirmed that the features will officially drop in a few months, they revealed that both the mob and the biome will be released in Java Edition's snapshot and Bedrock Edition's beta/preview version soon.
With Halloween arriving on October 31, 2024, players rejoiced as the scary features came just in time on both snapshot and beta/preview.
How Creaking and Pale Garden were perfect features to arrive to Minecraft before Halloween
Creaking's creepy mechanics
Creaking is a new spooky hostile mob that silently hunts the player when they are not looking at it. The mob has a weird deformed body and is entirely made up of pale wood, which helps it camouflage against regular pale oak trees at night. Its three creepy yellow eyes are vertically stacked on its long face.
Whenever the player enters the new Pale Garden biome, the mob will spawn and start hunting. The only noise the player will hear is its 'creaking,' which can be eerie in itself.
Since this mob does not have a heart inside its body, players will not be able to kill the Creaking, even if they hit it with explosions. Rather, its heart is outside in the form of a block buried deep in one of the pale oak trees. To defeat the mob, players need to destroy the Creaking's heart block.
However, this is no easy task since other regular hostile mobs will also spawn and hinder players from defeating the Creaking.
Pale Garden's spooky environment and dangerous spawns
When players discover the Pale Garde, they will notice that it is completely different from any other Overworld biome. Keeping aside Creaking, the new biome is still quite spooky, with the place being mostly colorless. The pale oak trees and the grass blocks are completely pale in color. In fact, when players enter the Pale Garden, even the blue sky turns grey.
Upon entering the biome, they will hear nothing else apart from the subtle creaking noises wood usually makes. Even during the day, this place can feel extremely eerie.
The biome somewhat comes to life at night, as eyeblossom flowers start to bloom, resembling the Creaking's eyes looking towards the player. Along with it, the wood-like creature itself starts spawning. Since the new mob is common in this biome, many of them can spawn in a single region.
Since Mojang has already released the Pale Garden and Creaking mob, players can enjoy the spooky feeling in the sandbox before Halloween itself.
