Calculating the size of a Minecraft block can get a little complicated. According to the developers at Mojang, a square block like the sand block or the dirt block is 1 cubic meter. This means all the edges of the block are exactly 1 meter or 3.28 feet long. However, some other blocks don't fit the bill.

However, the answer was completely off. This was because the physics of Minecraft is completely different, and normal calculations will not yield the right results. This is why the acceptable size of a block is 1 x 1 x 1 meter to keep measurements simple. You can place other items next to a normal block such as the dirt block to get an idea of how large the item is. For example, if you place two slabs on top of each other, it becomes the same size as a normal block. This means that one slab is 50 centimeters or 19.6 inches.
Based on this metric, you can place every other item in the game that is smaller than a slab, and get an idea about its size. Since the slab is 50 cm wide and tall, you can get the rough measurement for any item by comparing them if the item is too small.
