How to get realistic rain in Minecraft

Minecraft players have always loved everything the game allows them to do. From making large structures to just exploring the massive world, the game has something for everyone. But there is one place where it severely lacks and that is the graphics department. Despite offering an evergreen gameplay experience, the game still looks like something from the early 2010s. Thankfully, there are ways to make the graphics look better.

If you want to improve how the rain looks in Minecraft, there are mods made specifically for that. Making rain look realistic massively improves the look of the game and makes it more immersive. So in this article, we will be explaining how you can get realistic rain and improve the visuals of the game.

Realistic rain mod for Minecraft

When choosing any mod for Minecraft that changes how it looks, it is important to keep a few things in mind:

  • The mod must make the required changes but to a certain degree only. You do not want to change how everything looks too drastically or else the game might look different.
  • The mod should also not strain your computer too much to make the run choppy or even not function.

Keeping all of these things in mind, we have selected the Rain Revamp mod that is light on the system, does subtle visual changes to the rain mechanics, and is reliable with almost 2,00,000 downloads. You can get the mod from its official page in Curseforge.

We also recommend getting some shaders to further improve the look of the game. For example, BSL shaders are a great option and work well with most of the mods, including this one. But you can go with any shaders of your choice.

Now, with all that out, let’s look at the installation process of the Rain Revamp resource pack.

  • Download the resource pack from the Curseforge website.
  • Launch the game and from the title screen, click on the “Options” button, and select the “Resource Pack” option.
  • You will see a list of all the active resource packs. On the bottom-left, click on “Open Pack Folder.”
  • Here, move the resource pack file and then close the window.
  • Once you start the game, you will find the Rain Revamp resource pack in the list of resource packs installed.

That’s it. Enjoy better and more realistic rain.

The Rain Revamp adds subtle changes to the rain by making the water drops less saturated and the splashes on the ground more realistic. Since it does not add too much to the rain, you can run your game smoothly even on lower-end PCs.
