How Minecraft Live 2024 is different from previous live events
Mojang Studios recently announced its annual Minecraft Live event. During the showcase, the developer will delve into its games and what they have been working on for the future. However, this year's edition will be quite different from previous iterations, especially because of recent changes to the game's update cycles and live events.
Here is everything about the future of Minecraft's updates.
2024 Minecraft Live will be quite different from its predecessors
Two Minecraft Live events to announce frequent updates
Mojang Studios recently released a blog post before announcing its upcoming Minecraft Live event, which will be held on September 28, 2024, at 1 pm PDT.
In this post, the developer explained that it has decided to split the annual live event into two sections in light of the increased frequency of game updates. In addition, it will hold two events per year to present its latest projects and reveal upcoming updates for the sandbox game.
Another major announcement was the scrapping of the mob vote competition. The community will no longer be asked to choose one mob out of three introduced by the game creators.
Rather, the company stated that it is in the process of creating something new for the upcoming live event. However, the specifics are still to come. The decision to remove the mob vote competition came after much consideration and seeing the community's general dislike of the event.
Hence, the 2024 Live event could be much shorter than usual since Mojang Studios has split it into two halves. Though the developer will showcase upcoming additions, the updates themselves will be small.
Mojang Studios could announce smaller updates with features in Minecraft Live
In previous live events, Mojang Studios announced massive updates like Caves and Cliffs, The Wild, Trails and Tales, etc. However, this year's showcase could reveal one or two smaller updates that will be released more frequently at the end of 2024 or the beginning of 2025.
As mentioned, the company could host another live event early in 2025 to announce further smaller updates.
Features that might not change in Minecraft Live
Although this year's live event will be different, Mojang Studios may talk about the next list of smaller updates.
The last major update was 1.21 Tricky Trials. However, Mojang Studios will now also add major features to incremental updates that will be frequently released throughout the year.
