Here's how you can use shaders in Minecraft 1.21.3
Most shaders and texture packs are usually designed around Iris Shader and Optifine, two of the industry standard loaders when it comes to installing these visual add-ons. While Iris is the more popular choice due to its quick adaptation to the latest Minecraft updates, Optifine has a large, active community that also relies on the mod.
Here's how to install and run shaders in Minecraft 1.21.3 using both of these mods:
Minecraft Iris Shaders guide
The popular Iris Shader has a smooth and user-friendly interface that allows you to choose and customize mods as per your requirements. You can download the mod from the official website, run the JAR file, and install the required version. We recommend downloading the bundle with Minecraft Fabric to maximize compatibility with existing and future mods.
Once installed, here's how to use shaders in Minecraft 1.21.3 with the Iris mod:
- Download a shader of your choice from online repositories like Curseforge or Modrinth.
- Open the instance of Minecraft with Fabric and Iris Shaders installed.
- Head to the Options menu on the homepage.
- Select the Video settings tab. This will open up the main interface of Iris Shaders with a host of options.
- Head over to the tab marked Shader Packs on the right side corner.
- Click the Open Shader Pack Folder button which will open up the directory.
- Drag and drop your downloaded shaders into this folder.
- Head back to Minecraft. You will notice that the shader(s) you dropped are now displayed in the list.
- Choose the shader you wish to implement and then click on the Apply button.
- Additionally, you can select the Shader Pack Settings Tab to make modifications to the behavior of the pack to suit your playstyle and requirements.
You might have to wait a while while the shader pack is implemented across your game. The game may appear to be stuck with a frozen screen. However, do not quit or shut down Minecraft. After a while, go back to the main menu and create a new game to enjoy the world with the shaders in Minecraft 1.21.3 implemented.
