Is Minecraft End dimension due for a major overhaul?
For several years, Minecraft players have pleaded with Mojang to introduce new features to the game's third and final dimension, the End. While the studio has worked on several updates to bring all kinds of new features, it has yet to bring a major update to the desolate dimension. Because millions of players have seen and explored the game's creepy and mysterious floating dimension so many times, it is no longer so eerie and mysterious.
Hence, the community feels it's time Mojang brought something new to the End dimension.

Why Minecraft needs an End update
Overworld and Nether dimensions have already been updated multiple times
The fact that the first two dimensions—the Overworld and the Nether—have already received multiple updates, is one of the main reasons the End should get an update in the upcoming installments.
In 2020, Minecraft introduced a significant update to the Nether realm, which included new biomes, structures, and a new endgame material, called netherite, for crafting gear. This update significantly altered the sandbox's mechanics and was regarded as one of the best updates the game has ever had. Structures like bastion remains and biomes like warped and crimson forests were introduced.
Soon after the Nether update, Mojang announced that the Overworld would undergo significant alterations. The Caves and Cliffs update the developers unveiled was so large that they had to divide it into two parts. Subsequently, The Wild and Trails and Tales updates arrived, introducing even more mobs, world generation changes, buildings, and blocks to the Overworld. Tricky Trials update and further smaller game drops in Minecraft are also being focused on Overworld.
During all these years, the End hasn't received a single major feature like a new mob, structure, world generation change, block, or even an item.
End's features have already been explored by most in the Minecraft community
The End realm has been visited by millions of players countless times by now. Many players have already defeated the Ender Dragon and extensively explored the desolate realm. Hence, they are already tired of visiting it in the more recent worlds because Mojang hasn't introduced any new features to it.
There are a few obsidian towers on the main island, a bedrock fountain in the middle, and an end portal that lets players go to other islands, most of which only include endermen and chorus trees. Other than the main island, End Cities are the only other attraction that offers players excellent loot and Elytra, an overpowered flying weapon.
The endermen farm, the wither farm, shulker shells, and Elytra still depend on the End, but aside from that, the dimension doesn't offer anything significant, particularly anything new.
Features like new structures, mobs, blocks, and items will not only greatly enhance the End realm but Minecraft as a whole. It might entice players to return to the realm and explore it in a new way.
