"It looks like those resource packs that tries to look realistic": New Minecraft movie mob designs receive mixed reactions from fans

The newest teaser of A Minecraft Movie has fans divided over the two newly introduced mob designs. The teaser depicted Minecraft's world at night and revealed the designs for the skeleton and zombie mob, sparking a rather hot debate.

Thegoodgamer32 posted a screenshot from the latest A Minecraft Movie teaser with a rather hilarious caption about how people were wrong about how the movie could not get any worse:

You thought the movie couldn't get any more cursed? Yeah you were wrong.

Reacting to the shot of the zombie, one Redditor was reminded about resource packs that try to make the game look realistic:

Many commenting on the thread complained that the zombie looked out of place for the theme of the movie. The ultra-realistic look of the mob makes it look out of place from the pixelated world of the game, making the mob stick out like a sore thumb:

On top of this, many wondered why the skeleton looked so devious. The Minecraft skeleton is known for its rather expressionless face, so seeing the mob acting sinister has left players surprised. Two players got into a hilarious pun battle, engaging in a play of Joker's famous line, "Why so serious?":

Some Redditors dug deeper and tried to figure out why the skeleton was holding a sword. The mob is historically known to wield a bow, with players receiving a fair share of arrows every time they come face to face with one. This is even more surprising since the latest snapshot 24w45a invoked preferred weapons rules for skeletons and a few other mobs:

Some Redditors, however, defended how the mobs looked, stating that it was a great take on a classic design. It is also important to remember that the team behind the movie called it A Minecraft Movie rather than The Minecraft Movie, because they did not wish to make the film a definitive representation on-screen:

That said, it seemed like many were looking forward to seeing how the pieces would come together in the final movie. Even before its release, the movie has faced a lot of criticism from players both old and new — ranging from the casting of Jack Black as Steve to the uncanny design of mobs.
