List of Minecraft blocks that have a compact form

Minecraft offers a lot of different items to collect, and depending on your goals, you may need many of them. However, inventory space is limited, not only for you but also for storage units such as chests. Thankfully, many blocks in the game can be compacted together, making all 64 of them into one block, which can later be broken down into 64 constituents.

So in this article, we will be listing down all the Minecraft blocks that can be turned into a compact block. Also, in case you are wondering how to do this, all you need to do is to have 64 items and use the crafting table to make one solid block of the item. Let’s get started with the list.

The reason why some blocks of Minecraft can be compacted could be because these items are often needed in large quantities and hence, it would be a hassle to make multiple chests just to keep them. While the addition of bundles has made storage much better, you still need to make compact blocks to maximize efficiency.

Starting the list with the item that is often needed in the most quantity:

  • Coal: Coal is one of the most abundant items in the game and since you need a lot of it as it is a fuel source, it can be turned into a block of coal.
  • Diamond: Almost all the mineral ores can be turned into compact blocks, as the aim of the game is to collect as many ores as possible. Hence, diamonds can be turned into compact blocks.
  • Emerald: Emerald blocks are rare, but they are also needed to trade with villagers. Hence, they can be turned into compact blocks.
  • Gold: Gold being a mineral ore can also be converted into compact blocks.
  • Iron: Iron is one of the most important ores in the game as it is needed to make tools, weapons, and other items. Hence, Minecraft allows you to create compact blocks of it.
  • Redstone: Redstone is also needed in large quantities and hence can be made into compact blocks.
  • Bone: While bone is not too important in terms of gameplay, it can be turned into bone meal and then into bone block.
  • Lapis Lazuli: Lapis Lazuli is a crucial element needed for getting enchantments and hence, it can be made into compact blocks, so that you can store more of it.
  • Netherite: Netherite is also a mineral so it can be turned into compact blocks. Since it is one of the rarest items in Minecraft, if you get enough netherite to make a compact block, consider yourself very rich.
  • Dried Kelp: Kelps grow underwater and you can get a lot of it quite quickly. This block can be turned into a dried kelp block and kept efficiently.
  • Slime: Slime is also a very important block and interestingly, you need nine slime balls to make a slime block.
  • Honey: Honey blocks can be made by placing four honey bottles in the crafting grid.
  • Hay bale: Wheat is a food source in the game and the more you have it, the safer it is. Hay bales also allow better storage options as you can keep them outside.
  • Clay: Clay is a building material needed to make items such as bricks. Since they can be found in abundance, they can be turned into compact blocks.
  • Copper: Copper is another mineral block that was added recently and while it is found in abundance, it initially had limited uses. Thankfully, in the Tricky Trials update the developers added copper variants, making it more useful for building projects.

That covers the list. It's worth noting that raw versions of minerals, such as raw copper, gold, and iron, can also be compacted into blocks.
