Features and download guide for the Cryptid mod for Minecraft
What does the Cryptid mod offer?
Cryptid is a datapack or mod that is inspired by another game franchise — Doom. It transforms the game into a horror experience, emphasizing ambiance and sound.
Unlike traditional horror mods, this data pack adds special features that corrupt your world, introducing unique, terrifying entities with custom intelligent AI and griefing potential that can cause significant damage to your in-game creations. For example, some entities can destroy your base, change your torches to redstone torches, and more. These events become more common at night.
The gameplay of the datapack revolves around maintaining your harmony, a statistic that you need to keep in the positive range to stay safe. This can be done by staying away from the heartbeats, the heart entity itself, and other entities. Keeping a high harmony will reduce the frequency of events. You start in a new world with limited lives, regenerating them based on your harmony level.
The datapack is designed for long playthroughs and features a brand-new progression system. The datapack or mod also requires a special resource pack, which enables core shaders for custom models and screen effects. This is important for a more immersive horror experience.
