Minecraft fan reimagines Elytra as a beetle in detailed concept art
Minecraft players are always coming up with creative ideas for new mobs in the game. Some even suggest unique enhancements to existing features. One Reddit user, u/Oceanic_stars, recently shared intriguing artwork of a proposed mob called the “Elytra Beetle,” showcasing its wings both closed and open. They also described the potential uses of its mandibles and legs.
In response to the artwork, u/Cloudstar_Cat humorously noted how happy the character looks in the final image with the giant beetle on their back. The original poster joked that they are now best friends.
Several Redditors brainstormed how the Elytra Beetle could be integrated into the game.
u/Kleevesdoesart proposed that it could be a feature for a future End update. Meanwhile, u/thecratedigger_25, noted that the beetle could fly as quickly as elytra when combined with a trident enchanted with Riptide, though this would reduce its durability as faster speeds would create more drag on the wings.
u/sundazerr expressed excitement about having a helpful companion for flying but worried that Mojang Studios might avoid its release because it might be in conflict with the developer's views on animal mistreatment.
However, u/Ok_Pangolin2502 argued that Mojang's policies on animal welfare don’t necessarily apply to fantasy creatures. They pointed out that the developer already has morally ambiguous elements, like villager slavery and killing hoglins, in the game.
Minecraft fans are waiting for an update focusing on the End
Minecraft fans have long been requesting a significant update for the End dimension, which many feel lacks depth. Currently, the primary reason players visit it is to defeat the Ender Dragon and acquire elytra and shulker boxes. A comprehensive update could introduce new features, items, and mobs to the realm.
The title's upcoming update will be adding the Creaking mob and the Pale Garden biome to the game. Perhaps the next major update will focus on the End.
