Minecraft fans are asking for a Stardew Valley-like game from Mojang
Minecraft has been one of the most popular games on the planet and despite having millions of players, the game cannot make a successful spin-off. Mojang Studios tried MC Dungeons and MC Legends but unfortunately, these games failed to make an impact. While the reasons behind their failure make for a lengthy list, there is one thing that fans really want from the developers—a Stardew Valley-like game.
Stardew Valley is a classic top-down farming/life simulation game. And this has led fans to wonder how a similar version of Minecraft would play. The best part is that Mojang Studios made something akin to a Stardew Valley-like game and it looks very good.
Fans want a Stardew Valley-like Minecraft game
Mojang Studios posted a video on the game’s official YouTube channel which featured all the music from the album Pixel Remixes. The video is over 40 minutes long featuring multiple songs. But it wasn’t the song that got players’ attention. It was the animation artwork.
The artwork is very similar to Stardew Valley and it is refreshing to see Steve and other mobs such as the wolves, villagers, cows, etc from Minecraft placed in a top-down pixel game. With its release, fans are now asking for a spin-off of the game that allows them to do everything they can do in Stardew Valley.
It should be noted that there is actually a game like this made by Notch (Markus Persson) way back in 2011 that is still available for download. It is a simple game and does not offer a lot of gameplay mechanics like Stardew Valley or even Minecraft, but it shows that Mojang Studios can make something like that in the future.
Recently, the studio announced a total restructuring of its updates system, offering more frequent and smaller updates rather than a large update once a year. This means that the developers will give players more options and even listen to what they want. From seeing some of the replies to the post featuring the animation, it seems that a lot of players want this game.
Since a lot of Minecraft players enjoy the farming element of the gameplay, having a mini-game or spinoff that specifically focuses on these elements and adds more features could be a great idea. Having more crops to grow, more mechanics, tools, and even a proper trade system would certainly be a delightful game. All we can hope is for the developers to see the demand and come up with something.
