Minecraft fans discuss cryptic text hidden in official movie trailer
The trailer for A Minecraft Movie was recently released and it has set the game’s community abuzz. Fans are talking about the story of the upcoming movie, the cast members, and other surprises. A Minecraft Redditor, u/tokaygecko23, shared an image on the game's subreddit. The picture was a screenshot taken from the recently released trailer of A Minecraft Movie, and it featured the blue cube that transports people into the blocky world.
The caption claimed that OP had translated what was written on the cube using the Standard Galactic Alphabet scripture. The image also portrayed a five-by-five grid filled with haphazard letters.
That said, the comments were filled with thoughts from the community and even some possible translations that made sense. u/ThatFish123 translated what the cube said by adding the letters in a spiral pattern. The words were "Iron Gold Stone Gate Head Home."
This sort of makes sense as all these things are in the game. Another user, u/Emeraldnickel08, said that this is exactly the kind of thing the makers would have in the movie to make the characters go back home. They joked that Hollywood would definitely rhyme “stone” with “home.”
u/ActuatorMinute55 echoed the opinion about the clockwork spiral reading pattern and the words that come out with it. u/No-Marsupial-4636 said that it sounds like a mining list and a swift exit out of a cave.
u/RemixedZorua said that they like the attention to detail as the makers did not just add random symbols to make the cube look interesting. They purposely put the words that can be deciphered. u/DragonAethere opined that it might be a plot point to decipher the text on the cube.
u/DetectiveIcy2070 said that the movie might have a scene showing Jason Momoa saying that he can read the cube as he has played Commander Keen in his prime. The behind-the-scenes clip showed the backstory of Garrett, played by Momoa.
The video showed Garrett to be a successful video gamer player in the 80s. However, he has not moved on from that image, hence his bizarre appearance. It would be interesting to see how Warner Brothers use this character in the blocky world.
Minecraft movie is looking great
Around two months ago, Warner Brothers released the teaser for A Minecraft Movie. Fans did not like how everything looked in the movie, including the cast members, the world, and, especially, Jack Black as Steve. Players said that Jack Black did not resemble how Steve looked in the game. This was because of his long hair and a salt-and-pepper beard.
That said, things are changing with the release of the new trailer. Fans like how everything looks, and how many items and mobs are true to their game counterparts.
