4 Minecraft farms I always build in a new world

Minecraft primarily involves collecting resources and utilizing them to either survive or build unique structures. Hence, over the years, the community has made farms for almost every item in the game. From wheat to mysterious shulker boxes, every item is farmable. I usually keep it simple when it comes to surviving and building a farm.

On that note, here are some simple and extremely useful farms I always build in my new Minecraft worlds.

List of 4 farms I usually build in a new Minecraft world

1) Iron farm

When I start a new world, I try to progress from the Stone Age to the Iron Age fairly quickly. Even after getting diamonds and netherite, I still have a lot of use for iron gear and other related items. Hence, I always make an iron farm in a new world.

Three villagers and one zombie are required to build one. The villagers will be scared by the zombie when they are stuck with each other, and they will attempt to defend themselves by creating an iron golem.

Since I typically spawn-proof the surrounding areas, the golem spawns in an enclosed area where there is flowing water and a lava section, as seen in the image above.

After spawning, it will slowly move in the direction of the lava, die, and the hoppers and chests will gather its iron ingots. The farm will continue to gather iron ingots while this process is automatically repeated.

2) Lava farm

Another farm I always use in a new Minecraft world is a lava farm. Early in the game, I try to gather plenty of coal to cook or smelt items in a furnace. Later, finding coal becomes a tedious task, which is when I start building a lava farm.

It can be made from a few lava buckets, pointed dripstones, and cauldrons. I can either make a small farm with only one of these resources or multiple efficient ones.

As shown in the picture, lava can be positioned at the top, followed by a block and a pointed dripstone pointing down toward the cauldrons. Lava will begin to drip from the dripstone into cauldrons until they are filled with more lava. Since the lava at the top will never run out because of the game's odd mechanic, I get infinite lava as a fuel.

3) Crop/emerald farm

Crops are one of the most basic forms of food items in Minecraft. I can grow them manually after getting seeds of a certain type. Over the years of watching various methods that can earn one emeralds and plenty of crops for food, I discovered that I can create a crop farm that provides both resources.

I can employ farmer villagers to work in the fields and automatically harvest the yield for another villager. Those who get the harvest can be trapped in a minecart surrounded by hoppers in minecarts. The hoppers will then collect the harvest and store it in a chest.

This way, I get plenty of crops without working for it. Additionally, I can sell them back to the farmers for emeralds. Some farmers take carrots and beetroot for one emerald. This way, I create an emerald farm through a crop farm in my Minecraft world.

4) Sugarcane farm

After playing for a few hours and choosing where to build my first base, I usually begin crafting more powerful gear and find or employ librarian villagers for enchanted books. To get enchanted books, you need to give regular books to librarians along with some emeralds.

To make books, you need a lot of paper that comes from sugarcane. Hence, I tend to make a sugarcane farm in my world.

This farm can be created using observers and pistons. As the picture depicts, sugarcane is placed in front of pistons attached to an observer above them. When the sugarcane's height reaches the observer, the plant block will signal the piston to work and break it back to one block. The remaining sugarcane will be collected by hoppers and then by chests.
