The Minecraft Inventory Sorting mod can be installed using a mod loader. For this guide, we will be using Modrinth, a popular option with access to a large repository of mods, resource packs, shaders, and more. Here's how you can install the Minecraft Inventory Sorting mod:

  1. Head over to Modrinth and download the launcher if you do not have it already.
  2. Once downloaded and logged in, proceed to install the Fabric API, which is a prerequisite for the mod to function. You can download it from https://fabricmc.net/use/installer/. Open up the installation file and make sure you install the version corresponding to your version of Minecraft. Ensure the "Create profile" checkbox is marked and then hit the "Install" button. You will receive a prompt when Fabric has been successfully installed.
  3. After Fabric is installed, return to Modrinth and search for 'inventory sorting'. Look for the Inventory Sorting mod by user kyrptonaught or visit https://modrinth.com/mod/inventory-sorting and hit the green download button.
  4. You will be prompted to create a new instance. Additionally, you can choose an existing instance but it is recommended to go with a fresh one to avoid conflicts with other mods or packs. Name your instance and create it.
  5. You will be taken to a new page where Inventory Sorting will be shown as installed. Next, you must select the "Add Content" button on the right. Selecting it will prompt the Fabric API on the top. Click on 'Install' to add the Fabric API to your instance.
  6. Select the Home button on your left. The instance you created will be displayed on the top. Hover over it to reveal the green play button. Click it to launch the instance and access a modded version of Minecraft with the Inventory Sorting mod successfully installed.

Once installed, head over to the game and open up your Minecraft Inventory. This mod essentially stacks all different quantities of items and resources under individual stacks with just one click. You will notice a broom icon on the right-hand side of your Inventory. Clicking this button will sort items and resources under their stacks and greatly help reduce clutter in your Inventory.

You can stack things to a maximum of 64 per item/resource. The remaining units will be added to a new stack next to the maxed-out stack. This mod is great for players who wish to optimize their gameplay and put their OCD to rest. This Minecraft mod can be used on individual sessions as well as on servers. It should be noted that to access it on servers, you must install the mod on the server as well.
