Minecraft makes huge changes to Peaceful and Easy mode

Mojang recently released a new beta/preview version 1.21.50.20 for Minecraft Bedrock Edition. In this version, drastic changes have been made to peaceful and easy game modes that players can choose when creating a new world. They also added the new Creaking mob and Pale Garden biome that will arrive in the Winter drop.

However, the change brought to peaceful and easy modes is much bigger since it changes the core mechanics of the game. Let's explore more.

As with every beta/preview version released for the Bedrock Edition, Mojang Studios released a complete list of patch notes, revealing what they have changed. While the main additions were the Creaking and Pale Garden, the gameplay section of the patch notes had a massive change.

When players die in survival mode, they either respawn in the world, near a bed, or a respawn anchor. However, they lose all blocks and items they carry in their inventory. In addition, they also lose all of their experience points and start from zero.

However, in the latest beta/preview version 1.21.50.20, Mojang made some changes to peaceful and easy modes, which now enable players to keep items in their inventory and experience points even after respawning. Every item, block, weapon, tool and armor a player had before dying will remain with them. Even the experience points they gained will not go anywhere.

This will drastically change how players explore the game, especially in easy mode, where they could die from hostile mob attacks but with less severe consequences.

Keep Inventory no longer a cheat for peaceful and easy Minecraft modes

Prior to this change, keeping inventory even after death was considered a cheat that could be activated using commands. Players can type '/gamerule KeepInventory' if cheats are enabled in a world, and permanently link every item they pick up to their inventory.

However, if players incorporate cheats, they no longer get achievements from any activity in the game. Since players on easy mode will have the keep inventory feature enabled by default, they will be able to play the game normally and keep earning achievements as well.

Lastly, it is worth mentioning that the keep inventory and enchantment level feature in peaceful and easy mode is still in the beta stage. Mojang can bring changes to them based on community feedback.
