6 Minecraft mob variants you may not know about

Players encounter loads of mobs across all three realms during their journey through the world of Minecraft. While some mobs are passive or neutral in nature, others are hostile and will attack you on sight. Moreover, each mob is unique in appearance and behaves differently when interacting with the world, other mobs, and the player.

However, there are some rare mob variants that new players might not know about. Here are some of them.

Note: This article only mentions a few rare mob variants. There are chances that readers might know all of them. The article is only intended for new players who might be unaware.

List of 6 rare mob variants Minecraft players might be unaware about

While many players are aware of Red Mooshroom cows spawning on rare mushroom fields, not a lot of them must know about their brown counterparts. These are special variants of Mooshrooms that do not spawn naturally in the world. The only way for them to spawn is when a red Mooshroom is struck by a lightning strike, or when two red Mooshrooms are bred together.

They can also spawn if a player manually causes a lightning strike on a Red Mooshroom with a channeling-enchanted trident. Brown Mooshrooms have a one in 1024 chance of spawning while breeding.

2) Pink Sheep

The Pink sheep is another rare sheep variant that rarely spawns in Minecraft. Though many players jokingly dye any regular sheep pink, the naturally spawning pink sheep have a 0.164% chance. Hence, whenever players find a pink sheep, they get extremely excited and try their best to bring it back home.

Furthermore, even though regular sheep can be dyed, it will not naturally grow pink wool once it is sheered. This is another reason why the naturally spawning pink sheep is so special.

3) Swamp Villager

A swamp villager is a type of villager mob that does not spawn naturally in the game. This villager has unique clothing and hilariously wears a lily pad on the top of its head. Since villagers do not spawn in the swamp biome, these never spawn naturally.

The only way to get one of these villagers is by bringing two villagers into a swamp biome and breeding them with one another. The offspring will be a swamp villager.

4) Jungle Villager

Similar to a swamp villager, a jungle villager is another rare variant of a villager that does not spawn naturally in the world. This is because villages do not generate inside jungle biomes. They also have unique clothing, with an ocelot skin wrapped around them as a hunting trophy.

The only way to get jungle villagers is by breeding two regular villagers inside a jungle.

5) Zoglin

While players must be aware of Hoglins that dwell in the Nether's Crimson Forest biome, they have a rare variant called Zoglin. While a Zoglin shares its 3D model with a Hoglin, it looks completely zombified. This phenomenon takes place when a Hoglin accidentally comes into the Overworld. The mob shivers for a while before turning into a Zoglin. Since Zoglins can only exist when a Hoglin arrives in the Overworld, it is a rare variant.

6) Brown Panda

When players head into a jungle, chances are that they will spot a black and white panda. While they can either spawn as adults or as babies, they mostly spawn in black and white. However, there is a rare brown variant of pandas. They can either spawn naturally or when breeding two normal pandas.

Brown pandas do not have any specific personality other than their unique color combination.
