Minecraft player discovers rare Halloween easter egg mob
Minecraft has a lot of easter eggs designed for different occasions. There is one for Christmas, where the chests' colors change to red and green color to make them look like presents. But what many players are not aware of is that there’s an easter egg for Halloween as well.
A Minecraft player and Redditor named u/Aggressive-Ad-957 shared a couple of images on the game's subreddit, showing how some mobs like the skeleton and the zombie were wearing carved pumpkin masks. The original poster (OP) asked the community whether this was a Halloween feature or just a coincidence. They then showed the Legacy Console Edition of the game running on the Xbox console.
User u/Historical_Item4050 said that, yes, it is a feature, and it can only be seen on Halloween. Another user named u/Ceh0s said that they didn’t know this feature was present on Legacy too as they never noticed it. They also mentioned that they will be getting back into their five-year-old survival world on their Xbox to see it.
User u/Stovlari said that this is a Halloween feature and has been for around 11 years. They also mentioned that many other players posted the same thing on Halloween after encountering it.
The OP replied that they had no idea there were other posts similar to this. User u/juh49 said that there is a Christmas easter egg as well where the chests’ color changes to red and green to imitate presents.
User u/hagowoga said that, unfortunately, this feature is only on the Java Edition of Minecraft. Another user named u/GamingWolf3980 said that the OP is playing the Bedrock Edition. The original commenter replied saying that it might be an older version of the game as they played it and could not find such mobs.
User u/X1Kraft cleared the confusion by saying that the original poster is playing the Legacy Console Edition.
For those unaware, the Legacy Edition predates the Bedrock Edition on consoles. It was made just for the older generation, which included Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Wii U, etc. It has been discontinued now.
Spooky season in Minecraft
It seems that Mojang Studios is slowly making the blocky game scarier. With the announcement of upcoming updates, the developers are increasing the horror factor with the addition of the Creaking mob, the Pale Garden biome, and the Creaking Heart. The Pale Garden is a new biome that can be found in the overworld. It has a unique desaturated look to it, and it also has the Pale Oak tree.
The interesting thing about this biome is that it remains dead and barren during the day. But at night, the Creaking mob spawns here. Players can kill the Creaking by destroying the Creaking Heart that lies hidden somewhere in the woods.
