Minecraft player finds a mountain shaped like Gru from Despicable Me

Minecraft is a procedurally generated game that creates a world using a set of rules and algorithms. The shapes and sizes of structures in the blocky land are purely random. However, this does not mean players cannot find some patterns that resemble familiar things.

A Minecraft player and Reddit user named u/Heavy-Routine643 shared an interesting image on the game's subreddit. The picture showed an oddly shaped mountain, along with a picture of Gru from the Despicable Me franchise, hilariously stating that the mountain looks like the character's silhouette.

The user asked the community whether they wanted to live inside the mountain or make a base near it to get a view of this hill.

For those unaware, in the animated movie, the character has plans to steal the moon. Another user named u/Marley444 joked by asking the original poster to climb the “Grountain,” a pun by combining the words “Gru” and “mountain.”

User u/SafreQ45 asked the original poster to share the seed of the world with them. The OP replied with the seed and stated they are playing on the Bedrock Edition although it should also work on Java Edition. They added that players will be spawned in a dark oak forest, and they can climb on a tree to find the mountain.

Another user named u/kramsibbush said that Java and Bedrock editions of Minecraft generate the world terrain the same way. There are minor differences between the worlds, with an example being stronghold structure spawning.

User u/heidismiles asked if they remember when Minecraft had animal-shaped mountains, such as cats and cows. In reply, u/Plenty-Reception-320 said that it happens in the game's tutorial worlds, but not in the natural generation. They also reassured the commenter that they were not crazy for thinking that.

Most of the terrain of the blocky world looks normal. However, the game can sometimes generate bizarre-looking structures. This is because Minecraft uses a generative algorithm for the blocky world: it works most of the time, but errors and bugs are not uncommon.

Players have found some odd structures spawning in places they are not supposed to be. A few months ago, an image was posted on the game's subreddit, showing a desert temple spawned in a lake. Other players have found excessively tall pillager towers, villages in bizarre places, and more.
