Minecraft player recreates the world from a live-action trailer
Minecraft fans were not too excited when they got to see the first teaser trailer of the official movie. There were a lot of complaints about it, most of which revolved around how everything looked. From the color being too saturated and the world having a clay-like appearance to the mob's realistic design and how Jack Black did not look like Steve - the trailer did not leave a good first impression in the minds of many Minecraft fans. And now, players have started coming up with their own builds inspired by the trailer.
A Minecraft player and Reddit user, u/ThaMango shared an image on the subreddit of the game showing how they built the world from one of the shots in the trailer.
The shot shows a village with houses and even windmills. Reacting to this build, u/1Right_Photograph joked that it needs 15 more shaders (a possible nod to the oversaturated and unreal look of the trailer).
Another user named u/EthanEdmo pointed out how the movie version of the world showcased in this build does not feel natural or like anything from the game. This is something a lot of fans felt, as there were many elements such as functional windmills that are not present in Minecraft.
Redditor u/RemixedZorua commented that the original poster did a great job in making the build and stated that the only thing they do not like about the trailer is that the blocky arch looks goofy and it pulls them out from the immersion. Other than that, they find the trailer to be 100% faithful to the games. However, this did not sit well with other users.
u/Gaby_48 disagreed with u/RemixedZorua, pointing out that the movie features craftable items that aren't in the game and are three blocks tall, and that Jack Black's character does not look anything like Steve. They also mentioned how some plants shown in the movie are not from the game and that it's unfaithful to the game that piglins don't zombify in the overworld.
Fans don't like the Minecraft movie trailer
Fans of the game have waited years for a Minecraft movie and it seems that this was not what they expected. Warner Bros has cast some big names such as Jason Momoa and Jack Black for this film, and while this was initially exciting, the first look of the movie from the teaser trailer did not impress most players. The mobs have a realistic look mixed with the blocky appearance of the game, which gives them an uncomfortable, uncanny vibe. The movie will be released in the US on April 4, 2025.
