Minecraft players won't believe how old Steve is, according to new fan theory
Minecraft players have always had interesting theories about the game and its characters. They have inquired about the size of the world, the dimensions of specific blocks, and, crucially, Steve's maximum carrying capacity. However, no one has considered the protagonist's age until now.
A Minecraft player and Reddit user named u/Audry_THE_Wolf made a post on the game's subreddit, reportedly mentioning the character's age. The caption stated that Steve from the game is more than 1,000 years old. The whole notion was developed on the basis of the fact that one day in Minecraft is 20 minutes in real time.
Keeping this conversion in mind, and by taking the 15 years of the game’s launch, Steve’s age comes out to be over 1,000 years. This brings a completely new perspective towards the beloved character.
Reacting to this post, user u/mcmonkey26 added that Steve is 1,114 years old when considering the six months between Minecraft's release date and the current date. Another user named u/Luutamo believes he's even older as Steve was already an adult when the game was launched.
However, user u/betrayjulia shed light on the confusion saying that Steve does not exist when the game is not being played — meaning, he should be just as old as the oldest account. The character does not exist independently and requires players to log in to bring him back to the game. This could mean that his age is lower than the estimated 1,000+ years.
User u/ReedyBoy01 said that Steve is just a concept, and if anyone plays the game using the character, it means he ages. Since there is always some player in a part of the world playing the game, this makes him age all the time of his existence.
User u/StereoCatPicture joked that the post might be true for the original poster’s Steve as their character rarely lives for more than three days before dying.
User u/Powerful_Age_5467 refocused the attention on Steve's absurdity as he is believed to do outstanding things such as carry impossible weights, survive incredible water pressure, and jump over one meter without even bending the knees, despite being not too tall. Given these facts, the user believes Steve is most likely an alien and does not even age.
Steve has become a fan-favorite Minecraft character
Steve is one of the most iconic characters in video game history. His blue t-shirt, short hair, and goatee have become recognizable all across the globe. The popularity is so high that when Warner Bros revealed the look of Steve in the upcoming A Minecraft Movie, fans could not accept Jack Black with his long hair and beard as the blocky protagonist.
Fans of the game have also tried finding how tall and strong Steve is. Considering Steve can carry so many items, talented players have calculated the maximum weight Steve can carry, and the number comes out to be abnormally large.
