Minecraft for PS5 gets a release date

Minecraft players who play the game on their PlayStation 5 can finally take advantage of the powerful hardware as Mojang Studios has announced the release date for the native PlayStation 5 version of the game. In a news post on their official website, the developers mentioned that the PlayStation 5 version of the game will be launching on October 22, 2024, which is just a little over a month at the time of writing this article.

Let’s dive into the details and see what’s new with the PS5 native version of the blocky game.

It must be noted that players can still play the game on the PlayStation 5 console via the PS4 version. This means that while the game runs, it does not utilize the more powerful hardware of the PlayStation 5. Also, it cannot use the new DualSense controller, which has adaptive triggers. Players wanted a native PS5 version of Minecraft so that the game could run more smoothly and perform better using the powerful new machine.

Coming to the advantages of having a native version of Minecraft for the PS5, performance is the obvious advantage. But there’s more. Apart from being able to run the game at 4K resolution with a greater render distance and smoother gameplay experience, the DualSense controller can provide more output from the game.

For example, the speakers present in the controller can be used to transmit ambient sounds to make the experience more immersive. The adaptive triggers can get tighter when pulled using a bow and arrows.

Another important point to note is how players can get this version. Thankfully, if someone already owns Minecraft for the PlayStation 4, they can upgrade to the PlayStation 5 version (given that they have the console) for free. There is no upgrade fee involved. People who do not own the game will have to buy it from the PlayStation Store.

The PS5 version of the game comes out on October 22, 2024, and it goes to show how the developers at Mojang Studios are working to improve the game and bring out better updates. Recently, they announced the dates for the Minecraft Live event, and this time, the event will change how updates are dropped for the game.
