Minecraft resin brings a new look to armor sets

With Minecraft Bedrock 1.21.50.25 beta/preview, Mojang added resin along with the Pale Garden biome and Creaking mob that will be arriving in the Winter game drop. This resource was not teased in the developer's annual event but was soon added to the latest beta/preview. It has several unique features, including bringing forth a new color for all armor trims.

Here is everything to know about how resin can be obtained and used on armor with armor trims in Minecraft.

Resin can be applied to armor trims in Minecraft

How can resin be obtained?

First, players must understand how to obtain resin in Minecraft. It is a new item that is only generated in Pale Gardens during nighttime. When a Creaking mob spawns at night, players are required to attack it several times. This will force the mob to take energy from it's heart block, which is located deep within one of the pale oak trees. When the creature takes energy from the block, the block will essentially generate resin clumps that will be visible on other pale oak wood logs.

These resin clumps can then be obtained by breaking them with any tool or by hand.

Once resin clumps are obtained, players can apply the material as a color on armor sets with any armor trim for designs. This can be done on the smithing table. Players must place some resin clumps, an armor part of the choice, and any armor trim smithing template that they desire. Once all three items are placed, they will see that design armor trims will be created in orange color on the armor. A small preview will be visible on the smithing table's UI.

If players are satisfied, they can take out the designed armor part and wear it. Since resin clumps are bright orange in color, they will look great on most armor sets, especially netherite ones since they might look like lava flowing through the armor.

Other uses of resin

Apart from being used as a color for armor trims, resin clumps have other uses as well. Most notably, they can be smelted in a furnace and turned into resin bricks. These can then be crafted into various resin brick blocks like slabs, stairs, walls, etc. Hence, resin brings a brand new type of building block to Minecraft as well.
